What if the Absolute Crisis had been foretold and the gods had already had it all figured out and fixed with a neat little bow with six heroes hand-picked for the job?
The gods certainly have no need for a vampire spawn in their plans, all but one that is.
For 200 years, Astarion had thought all of his prayers unanswered, but one goddess was meddling in the other god's plans, risking unraveling them at the seams, for the sake of the spawn that had pulled on her heartstrings.
This is a reimagining of the events in the games, with my own creative twists and an emphasis on Astarion's fight for freedom and his journey of healing.

“Despite you not perceiving it, he’s obviously come to care for you deeply. As far as if he has realized it himself, I am not sure. Even if he had, I doubt he would truly admit it to himself, let alone you or anyone else here,” Gale muses, letting out a laugh as he speaks. Imogen shakes her head in response, unable to really believe what the wizard is saying.
“I doubt that. He was probably just trying to make sure he didn’t lose an ally, gods know we need all of the ones we can get,” she says, nodding her head as if agreeing with herself. That had to be it, that was what made sense. After all, he’d only ever shown that type of interest in her when he thought that he owed her that for her kindness. It had never been real when he had tried to connect with her on that level. Not that she blamed him, it’s what he’d grown accustomed to. He didn't know how else to repay a kindness or favor, those concepts likely having been lost to time centuries ago.

Hykrul barely hums an acknowledgment, his body is yielding completely to Astarion. Like it was out of his control and Torms Grace, he loves it. His eyes drift shut as his breathy little sounds only grow higher in pitch.
The touches cease.

Now she gets it. Now Tav understands why Astarion is spouting honeyed, hollow words at her. This seduction was not genuine, but a tactic. She felt a twinge of disappointment at this revelation but didn’t let it show on her face. Her time in the Underdark should have prepared her for such manipulations. After all, the primary purpose of conversation is not to simply exchange information but rather to improve one’s standing by any means necessary. At least, that was the attitude instilled in her by her drow parents. Only a handful of people have ever tried to sexually toy with her, but she did not expect Astarion to pull that ruse on her.
TL:DR Tav, suspicious of any flirting directed at her, sees through Astarion’s honeypot scheme. While she does not want to say no, she can’t say yes right now.

Summary
He crawled back to camp, stomach knotting itself with hunger, nearly doubling over from the pain, the need. He was thankful that no one had been badly injured that day - no scent of blood lingering in the air to drive him deeper into desperation.
He was also thankful that Jen hadn't questioned him putting his tent a distance from the others, though he barely had enough energy to grab his bedroll and drag it inside. He collapsed into the middle of the assorted blankets and pillows he'd accumulated, burying his face in them.
After a long moment, Astarion turned over so he was laying on his back, and settled his breathing into a routine pattern. Maybe, hopefully, reverie would let him ignore his hunger for a few hours.

It's been nine days since Astarion found freedom via a tadpole in his brain and being dumped in the wilderness. Nine days since he tagged along with people that were either annoyingly kind or annoyingly secretive.
Nine days of near-constant travel, combat and hunting animals for food. Nine days of slow, crippling exhaustion and a lack of enough blood to sustain him.
Nine days of being tormented by the memory of a drop of Jen's blood, and he was desperate.

Summary
My BG3 fanfic with a (relatively) emotionally well-adjusted Tav! There's a lot about half-orc Thenbara's backstory and stronghold, including her (hopefully funny) internal dialogue/inner monologue. I've created a lot of my own orcish anatomy, lore and language, while still trying to be faithful to D&D/Forgotten Realms content and rules.
While much of the game will be mentioned, the story mostly revolves around the companions' relationships to Thenbara and eachother, with buckets of non-game dialogue. NSFW; smut/pre-smut from Chapter 8. If you're just here for smut, pre-smut is in Chapter 8, proper smut is in Chapters 9 and 12. Lots of spoilers for Baldur's Gate 3 Act 1 gameplay.
Applicable content warnings posted at the beginning of each chapter, but please request any you think need to be there that I haven't added. Translations of Orcish words and phrases in the notes at the end. Chapters average 4000-5000 words. Not beta-read, but I proofread as best I can. Comments appreciated, I hope you enjoy.
