After being disgraced and orphaned by the death of both her parents in a coup, princess Ellen has to face the prospects of the impending political marriage the new king and queen, her aunt and uncle, have arranged for her.
Thomas was the son of a merchant. A rather unfortunate one at that who had been seized by the crown for unpaid loans and thrown into debtors prison. When he is sent to be a servant in the palace he is met with an even more daunting prospect: the princess herself.

Orlok's hands, still on his shoulders, grip tight.
A myriad of responses shudder through Thomas; desire, revulsion, shame, want. He wishes he could chalk it up to pleasing her, earning more praise, more approval; all from her.
His heart is not so clean as that.
"Yes." He chokes on the word, on the arousal laced through it. Flinches when the fingers on him curl so claw-like nails press to his skin until it breaks.
