Summary
It’s not until lunch time that Buck realises he hasn’t told Eddie that Christopher is sick. His phone has stayed in the kitchen while Buck has been rotating between rinsing out the bowl, changing the bed sheets, showering Christopher again, rinsing out the bowl...it’s been a lot. He’s barely had a second to even think about picking up his phone so when he finally does close to one o’clock, he’s not expecting the forty missed calls from Eddie and a fucking tsunami warning from two hours ago.

A memorial was created and every year on the anniversary thousands of people come together to tell the stories of the people who were lost to the wave.
“Over the past year, a team of volunteers sifted through hours of footage to piece together the untold stories of heroism from that day. Using that footage, as well as interviews with survivors, they were able to put together a series of videos recognizing the heroes that stepped up.
“There were many people that saved many lives that day. But one of the most heroic was someone I know personally. This is the story of Evan Buckley, known by most as Buck or Firefighter Buckley.”Or

Or while bartending in Texas, Buck and Eddie meet at the bar but nothing is what it seems and Eddie doesn’t plan on giving Buck up so easily.

Summary
Buck flails and tries to sit up. “Eddie,” he gasps. “No, no, no, no. I need to go. I need to find him. I need—” He struggles, tries to squirm out of Eddie’s grip, and he growls, “Let me go. I need to find Christopher.”
“You back with us?” Hen asks, joining them on Buck’s other side and helping Eddie hold him down.
“What? No, let me go!” he says, struggling against Hen’s efforts to keep him still. His eyes grow hot with tears and he tries to dive over the side of the rescue boat, calling weakly for Christopher.
Eddie tackles him, his own eyes wet, and it’s looking into those sad brown eyes that finally brings Buck fully back to himself.“Stop. Where’s Christopher?”
“I don’t know,” Buck wails. “I’m so sorry. I—” He twists, tries to fight Eddie so he might jump back into the water, but the body atop him is heavy and he’s so, so tired.
“Buck,” Eddie says, tears sliding down his face and dripping onto Buck’s soaked shirt. “Buck, stop. I’m not losing you too.”
Buck slumps, letting his eyes flutter closed and giving in to the warm weight of Eddie’s body holding him down. “I’m already lost,” he mumbles into the darkness as he finally, finally goes to sleep. -
Summary
Evan Buckley joined the SEALs at 19 and stuck with it. Now at 30, he is a firefighter who never told anyone about his past career, his team, and how disastrously it ended. That is until he comes home from shift one day to find a deployment issue in the mail. He finds himself forced to confront his past, tell his new family everything that isn’t classified, and deal with some old ghosts coming to life. Though none of it is necessarily in a bad way.

Despite himself Buck bit back a laugh. "Is this... is this real? Are you the Grim Reaper or something? Thanatos? Yama?"
The figure's head tilted to the side slightly, and Buck could swear he heard some humour in it's next words. "Or something."
Buck huffed, forcing himself to his feet. "Okay... say this is really happening. Why are you talking to me? Surely you have something more important to be doing."
"And why is that?"
He faltered, throwing his arms up as if the question itself was ridiculous. "You - you're like some other-being-thing, and I'm just an idiot from LA who crashed his car. Th-There has to be a hundred other people that are dying right now who are more important that me!"
"In all my centuries of being, I have never met a soul who was unimportant."
Buck just blinked.
"You, Evan Buckley, are here for a reason."
With that, the figure turned, disappearing as the abyss twisted around him sickeningly.---
After the fallout of the lawsuit Buck gets in a car crash, meets death (?) and goes on a journey of self-discovery.

Summary
Buck wanted to go home. He wanted nothing more than to be back with his family and to go home. Things had been rough this last year though, first his leg got crushed, he had a pulmonary embolism, he was told he couldn’t come back to work, and then there was a tsunami. Even with now being allowed back at work after making the mistake of filing a lawsuit, things were still a bit strained. His family and home still felt like they were an arm’s length out of reach. Then, things get even worse somehow when he and the rest of the team get sent to see Dr. Wells after a particularly rough call.

Anywhere in LA, it’s our day!” Chris tapped his chin thoughtfully, looking out the window at where they could see the beach through some buildings. “The pier!” he declared determinedly, and Buck huffed out a laugh.

Summary
Navigating the aftermath of Shannon’s death, Eddie never thought he’d be a widower by age thirty-two and raising a kid on his own without any help. When Christopher calls into one of those late-night talk radio shows asking how to help his Dad, Eddie realizes that he needs to try and move on for Christopher’s sake, so he reluctantly starts dating what everyone tells him is the perfect woman for someone like him.
It turns out Christopher, and he have much different ideas of just who they need.
Buck has had a terrible year. His physical injuries from the truck bombing were bad enough but having Ali leave him seems like a sign from the universe that he’s always meant to be alone. Listening to the radio at night, he hears the most adorable kid ever talking about how his Dad is sad and needs a new partner—LA kids are pretty progressive, and this Christopher kid isn’t particular if his Dad ends up with a woman or a man. Buck’s halfway through his second beer, aimlessly scrolling through TikTok when a conversation behind the bar catches his ear. He looks up and tries to get the bartender’s attention when he’s near, gesturing to get him to come towards him. “Hey, Brandon?” Brandon takes a step to the right and closer to Buck. “Did I hear that right? You guys are looking for someone to fill in on Thursday for entertainment?”
“Yeah, our usual guy cancelled. Apparently he can’t do his Thursdays anymore. Shame, too. He really brought in the crowds. Why? D’you know anyone?” Buck nods and opens Spotify to show Brandon. "Oli? Shit, yeah. I have 5 of his songs. You know him, Buckley?"
"I'm Oli."
