Wemmbu pondered. If the impostor knew his identity and was thinking what he thought they were, the impostor would target people known in the server to interact with him the most. Egg, Boosfer, Jaden… Maybe Minutetech if they followed the right rumours. The impostor would pose as him, visit them and do something bad in his name.
Minute and Egg were checked off the list. Minute wasn’t that stupid and Egg must have told him already. Boosfer was dealt with. Jaden could wait—The Great Sea was millions of blocks out.
Wemmbu was certain he missed someone out from his imaginary list. Then it clicked. He groaned, burying his face in his palms.

Flamefrags' base was quiet except for the crackle of torches and their ragged breathing. The battle from earlier still rang in both their ears, even if most of the team was full of players fighting like bots, they still packed a punch—they agreed on a day to prepare, then they were coming with everything they had. A day before they very calmly negotiated with LettuceK.
Wemmbu stood in the doorway, one hand pressed against the deep gash on his side, the other gripping his mace like he wasn't sure whether he still needed it. Blood dripped steadily onto the floor.
"You going to come in or just bleed all over my entrance?" Flamefrags called from where he'd collapsed into a chair, his own injuries screaming for attention.
"Still deciding if this is a trap." But Wemmbu took a step inside anyway, his eyes scanning the base's interior—the chests, the brewing stands, the weapon racks. "Your place gives a Very big 'brooding loner' aesthetic."

The first tear hit his hand before he realized he was crying.
"Shit," he muttered, voice cracking. "Bro, come on."
But once it started, he couldn't stop it. His shoulders shook, and he fumbled with his blindfold, yanking it off before the tears could soak through. The fabric came away in his hands, and he clutched it against his chest while the sword and stone lay forgotten in his lap.
He'd been used before. So many times. People saw what he could do—the fire, the heat, the weapon he could become—and that was all they saw. All they wanted. Until they didn't need him anymore. Until he was too much trouble or too dangerous or too attached, and then they'd leave. Every single time.
The tears came harder now, hot against his skin. His breath hitched in his throat, chest tight with the effort of trying to stay quiet. He didn't want anyone to hear. Didn't want anyone to see him like this—broken down and pathetic behind a crumbling wall.
"I'm so stupid, bro," he whispered to himself, voice cracking. "So stupid."
