    Bad burst into the nest room. Words fell from Bad’s mouth, frantically explaining something Tommy wasn't been in the mindset to understand. Dream stiffened under him, and George and Sapnap even stopped their bickering to jolt up and rush out of the room.

    Tommy glanced up, confused, a worried chirp sliding out from his lips as his sire stood up as well, uttering a concerning-yet-commanding warble of stay-protect-you-not-safe-stay at Tommy. Dream left him there, and Tommy curled up a bit tighter in his nest, pulling blankets around him as he watched his sire leave the room and close the door behind him.

    Something jolted against the bond. Something felt… wrong. Awfully wrong. One branch of the bond started to shut down, but not as if it were being blocked; it was as if–as if…

    ...No, Tommy couldn’t think like that. His coven was fine, they were safe; they just had to deal with whatever this was, finish their fight, and then they’d come back to the nest, all of them, safe and sound.

    He didn’t know what was happening. He didn’t want to know what was happening. He didn’t know if he could handle it.

    He glanced back and saw a small blonde boy emerge from the darkness. His jaw dropped slightly. The kid was ringing his hands together nervously and looking from him to all around. Eyes constantly darting.

    Tommy’s eyes opened blearily. They still felt puffy and burned slightly. The smell of hotel hit his nostrils. 

     

    Hotel? When did he…

     

    He shot up. 

     

    Wilbur. Wilbur brought him here and got him a room. 

     

    He spilled every single one of his dark secrets and sobbed the hardest he’s ever sobbed in his life. 

     

    To a vampire no less. Of course Wilbur was going to say all those nice things to trick him! What was he thinking?!

     

    Well, he was thinking that… that Wilbur hadn’t hurt him. That Wilbur had seen him vulnerable and didn’t use it against him. 

     

    He told Wilbur he was going to try and get better. 

     

    A part of him deep down does want to feel better. Maybe he can just play this out. He’ll keep his guard up, but he’ll give Wilbur a chance. One chance, that’s it.

     

    Or, Tommy learns that healing isn't linear, and that Wilbur is going to be there every step of the way.
