Now there's all these new rules to follow and no one will explain why. Travel in pairs, protect your face from the dust.
The worst one is the curfew. Neither of them understand why it exists until the very beast is right in front of them. Just when all hope is lost, their savior arrives, wearing a very familiar face.

"The headache Mike had been nursing all day flared up into something more serious. It felt like his brain had been trapped in a vice so tightly he could hear his blood pumping out a steady beat. His skull was going to implode. It was going to crumble in on itself. Light suddenly felt blinding and he closed his eyes tightly to block it out. When he opened them he turned to look at Will but found nobody there. He heard a loud clock chime. The noise reverberated through his body and felt like it was coming from everywhere all at once. The Harrington's living room was gone and replaced with his own. He was completely alone. None of it made sense, but it all felt real."
Mike gets Vecna-ed and is forced to face all the fear, guilt, and secrets he’s been hiding for so long. In the end he may realize he’s not as alone as he thought.

“Mike..” he says softly. Mike looks at him. Will raises a hand to his cheek, suddenly not caring for anyone else. But Mike flinches the moment it makes contact, so instead he settles it on Mike’s knee. “Are you okay?”
(No, you idiot, he thinks. Of course he’s not okay. He’s cursed and no one knew! You didn’t even know Vecna was close. That is such a stupid question)
Mike opens his mouth to respond, but nothing comes out. He looks so lost, it scares Will.
Max chews on her nail as Lucas keeps crossing and uncrossing his arms, and Will knows it’s probably killing Dustin to stay quiet. El is close to tears.
(His own eyes burn too)
Will’s about to call his name again but then Mike cracks a small smile and says: “I think we defeated Vecna.”

He will traverse the interworking's of Hawkins own personal hell, forced to recycle the once present memory of Hawkins into something new. something violent. something completely different than Vecna. -

Those milky eyes fixed on him, and a warped brow lifted, as if asking him to repeat himself.
Even though the cold seeped into him, like he was drifting backwards into a freezer, Will didn’t take the way out.

Will offers himself to Vecna in exchange for Holly’s safety.
Mike takes this about as well as can be expected.
