Smoker took a long drag from his cigar and breathed out a long wisp. He wasn’t sure how to even start and it didn’t help that Law looked amused by his angsty silence.
“Fine, I’ll get right to the point. I need to get into Doflamingo’s Birthday Bash. You got an invite, right?”
Law’s eyes suddenly dilated as his fur bristled. “You better not…be suggesting…what I think you are.”
The atmosphere seemed to crackle with tension. Smoker hesitated to continue, not realizing just how much he’d struck a nerve.

There’s something comforting about how unpredictable his brother is, something he can count on at least when there’s nothing else to rely on. He grabs a commentary on their great-great grandmother and puts it on top of the others, on the pile of papers he doesn’t really suspect his brother to read thoroughly.
“I didn’t.” He responds tiredly as he shuts the drawer and leans against the wall, “Do I want to know how you know?”
Doffy comes to stand next to him, tilts his head back until Roci can glimpse at his eyes from the side, and teases, “I looked, of course.”

That single moment of distraction was enough for the pup to break free. To go back to running for his brother, running for that damned scaffold protected by three admirals and people much stronger than him. Crying out his brother's name as if it was the only truth he knew in this world and without him everything would come crumbling to dust.
Doflamingo knew the feeling.
A decade away in an island of snow and Rosinante's corpse cooling at his feet, Vergo grinning in pride.
He couldn't let the kid go. Not when those eyes were so familiar, when that gaze could be a mirror of his baby brother's. Not when it was possible...
Rocinante drunk on his liquor in Spider Miles, weeping for a child he had lost. Doflamingo thought the child to be dead and yet what if he had simply been left behind.
