Powder shrieked again, whining. Violet hushed her, and Powder cried louder; pointedly.
"Okay! Okay, shh." Violet ducked under and around the hammock for her own glorious introduction. Powder's crying stopped almost immediately. "Ha! It's me, your hero! You can call me Vi." She tapped Powder on the nose, getting a reluctant wave-off as Powder hung onto the hammock and her words. "And Vi, stands for Victory! Get out of here, bad guys. You ain't gettin' my sis while I'm around." Violet put her hands on her hips, and then mimed a heroic cape behind her. Powder gave out a soft giggle, and added the final touch.
"Swhishshwish." Ah yes, the dramatic wind.

Summary
Nothing helps. Well, nothing but punching things. And alcohol. Vi’s been engaging in a lot of both. She knows it’s not good for her but the need to expel her anger, frustration, and sorrow supersedes any shred of logical thought. That and the very small part of Vi’s brain that couldn’t let the last physical pain she suffered be at the hands of Caitlyn. Because maybe the next punch thrown at her face will erase what Caitlyn did to her and what Caitlyn meant by it. You’re an animal just like them. You aren’t worth it. I don’t need you. I don’t love you.

You loved each other so much that it tore the world apart, and now it’ll happen again. It has to. Reality will burst at the seams and you’ve wished for so few things in your life that you think you’re entitled to this one: when whatever crawls out instead of stuffing, you want the person you’ll never be lucky enough to spoil with a kiss a safe distance away
So you know I had told myself I wasn’t going to read fic for this fandom but then season 2 came out and the wait between act 2 and act 3 broke me, so here I am. And gosh I’m thinking it might have been a bad idea to have started with this fic cuz it’s setting my standards for fic in this fandom unrealistically high. This is absolutely phenomenal. I love this portrayal of Vi’s inner dialogue so much. I adore the ambiguity of the “her” that Vi loves, though of course it is always clear to the reader who Vi is talking about in the moment. Arcane at its heart is the doomed sisters show and this fic is a perfect portrayal of that

Summary
There’s a fiery determination in her blue-gray eyes as she gazes at him with pure hatred and rage, and Silco knows he’s facing someone with the potential to be a better fighter than Vander ever was. Someone who cares to the point of undoing, who would sooner tear down her own body’s boundaries than give up. A soldier with nothing left to lose. A girl in desperate need of something to fight for.
No, not just any girl. Silco knows her name.
“Violet,” he breathes out through the pain, the word escaping from his lips like an epiphany. Her face softens momentarily in confusion, and it’s just enough time for Silco grab a sizeable rock from the rubble around them and bring it crashing into the side of her skull, knocking her unconscious. He struggles to his feet, realization dawning on him as he looks down at Vi’s prone form.
He’s not going to kill her. No, it would be a waste, he sees that now. Instead, he’ll show her there are more useful places to direct her anger. He’ll raise her up to be the best weapon in his arsenal. He’ll teach her to do what Vander could not.
And she will be fearsome indeed.

“But we’re together now, Cait! What’s done is done. Let’s just– just move past this.” Vi could feel the beginnings of tears pricking at her eyes, that all-too-familiar lump in her throat. “Why can’t I just move past this?”
Caitlyn’s palm came up to brush against her cheek, and against all better judgment Vi leaned into her touch—that same touch which had guided her out of the darkness so many times, and which now kept her teetering on the precipice between heaven and hell.
The apology scene we deserved.
