There’s a brief pause, and then: “We won’t see each other again for a long time, Han.”
“Soon.” He turns his head up so that she can see his eyes. So Mischa can see that this time, his promise will mean something, no matter the cost. “Once I get the last one, I’ll… I can go.”
Mischa’s eyes widen with horror. “No. You can’t.”
“Why not?”
“Because someone is waiting for you.”
Hannibal freezes. He narrows his eyes. “Who?”

Summary
Hannibal’s absolutely terrible with spice. So Will usually lets Hannibal cook.
Will had noticed the pattern, but hadn’t made the move to mention it, nor did he really have the heart to do so. It seems like Hannibal’s used to hiding it, whether it’s by him slowly yet gradually increasing the spice levels for Will, but the food looks just a bit different in color in comparison to his own plate.
He knows why Hannibal does it; knows that, as far as soulmates are known, is that they essentially have one sense dulled, one sense heightened, until they find their complementary soulmate.
Will’s sense of touch had been dulled, while his sight was heightened.
Hannibal, on the other hand, had his taste dulled before they met. Sense of smell heightened.
Will and Hannibal are soulmates. Hannibal's taste is lessened, while Will behaves as if he's touch-starved due to his sense of touch being close to none. When their work with Jack becomes tough due to their traditionally unorthodox therapy methods, what more can they do but expose their marriage?

Will turns back to the SUV, eyes fixed on the figure in the passenger seat.After a moment of silence, the door opens, and a pair of winter boots come into view as they crunch the snow underneath. Will holds his breath.
The SUV door slams shut, there’s a brief flash of auburn hair, and the entire world comes screeching to a halt because it isn’t Bedelia du Maurier, Alana Bloom, Margot Verger, or Chiyoh with her smiling rifle.
