After placing a kiss on the critters head- it's revealed that Shedletsky was the god known as Telamon! Who was forced into that pitiful form by a curse...
BrightEyes finds out tho, that Telamon and Shedletsky are not very different. And having a god tied to your hip is very taxing.

The soul is an unknown entity to the masses; just like the brain is an unknown labyrinth of human knowledge. Emotions, thus, are molecules of its thoughts, traveling through the body in waves that one cannot explain. A deity like me should never get attached to such human things, just as they should never go through experiencing such human emotions.
But I held you in my hands, a fragile little thing that you were, your hands reaching forward, grabbing my robe, and I couldn't wash off this feeling.
I found you on the ground, covered in dirt, crying, wiggling around, doing everything to grab my attention. And you did, you grabbed mine, and you calmed down, breathing heavily in my arms as I watched you fall asleep. Something within me sparkled like the flame of a candle, not much but slow and steady, as if it was meant to be there.
You were so tiny, so fragile, a little thing.
And I couldn't let you go. Everything inside me screamed at me not to do it.
And that was the best decision I have ever made.---
