“Yeah, well, everything about me is bad, so.”
And it’s true. He’s been bad the second the came out of the ground. Maybe Belos made him this way on purpose (he’ll always be a thing, first and foremost), but there’s fundamentally something so disgusting about him that forces him to have to kick and scream just to be noticed by anyone. It’s pathetic how he has to give up every bit of his stolen body and artificial soul to make people stay, but that’s just his life. It’s how it’s been, and how it always will be.
Or: Learning to live without Belos is hard.

“You– You know who they are?” he asked, mouth open in shock and eyes wide like a deer in headlights—or a bat in headlights.
“Well, I’ve never spoken to him,” she said, nonchalantly flipping through some files that likely had nothing to do with their topic of conversation. “But JJ talks about him a lot. I think he views him a bit like an older brother. He talks about him that way, at least.”

Summary
Jason knows who Slade Wilson is and that he should stay away from him.
He knows the man is a vicious competitor of his father’s with a business ethic firmly in the dark gray to black side of the spectrum.
He also knows that his older brother drank too much one night, while he was in college, and fell for Wilson’s sweet talk, whatever that could possibly sound like, and that the older man still, years later, finds ways suggestively drop Dick’s name into conversations with their father.
So when he sees the man’s signature white hair and eye patch approaching his position at the bar, Jason makes a real attempt to avoid him.

Red Hood’s modulated voice is bone-chilling. Nearly every sleaze-bag in Crime Alley had become accustomed to the gravely robotic nature of it. The unnatural shifts in his words and the variations in pitch being just ever so slightly off putting. Borderline uncanny, yet everyone who’s heard it knows there’s a human behind that voice. A man who choses to blow a hole through someone’s skull without so much of an afterthought.
Though, no one had ever heard that voice scream.
Not until tonight.
Or, Red Hood is captured, Nightwing saves him and while helping him afterwards, puts the wrong puzzle pieces together and confronts him which does not go quite how he planned.

"I kill so others don't have to," Bruce states firmly and clearly. This entire situation didn't seem like it could get any more bizarre, what with Bruce sitting in the dark and polishing guns, but somehow it just has, "While you are here you will not kill."
Jason's throat is scratchy and dry with terror, but the insatiable feeling of being talked over and disregarded is a fresh wound. He can't back down from this if he tried, "I've killed. I still kill. Who the fuck do you think you are to stop me?"
Bruce gently sets down his gun, and picks up the blade beside him with practised ease. Jason's blood runs cold when the man wearing his father's face says, "You will die by my hand if you try."
(Jason meets a version of Bruce who has manifested his fears very differently.)
