Summary
“You hate us for making you better,” Dick continues against his will. He doesn’t want to be saying this, but really, how dare Bruce be so surprised to hear it? He should understand better than any of them how defective his relationship skills are. He has no right to pretend it isn’t true now that they can all hear it aloud. “But you hate yourself more for making us worse, which is—it’s fucked up, but we’re all fucked up, and it’s—it’s only partially your fault. You secretly wish you’d never met any of us, and you’d be right about it because now we hate ourselves, too.”
How can Bruce have the audacity to look heartbroken when he already knew all of this? Why is he pretending? Why does he keep lying?
(Dick is dosed with truth serum, and the effects will take at least a day to wear off. During that time, Dick is forced to reveal and confront truths about himself that he never wanted to acknowledge. )

"The landlord's turned off the utilities and he's kicking us out in five days if we don't catch up on the last three months of rent."
"Okay," Willis said. He knew how he was supposed to follow that up. Thank you for telling me. I'm here now, I'll take care of everything. I'm sorry. Instead, what came out of his mouth was, "What happened to your face?"
OR: Knowing it wasn't enough had never stopped Willis Todd from trying.

He tapped the screen again, his face up close in the zoomed camera.
"Whoa, ultra Tim-vision, no thank you. I think I just saw my pimple's pimple. Gross." He zoomed out and grinned at himself. "I don't know if I have ever felt so freaking happy or strong or cool, or well, anything, in my whole entire life."
And it was true. Standing atop a building as Robin. If someone were to look up, they would definitely think he was the real deal and the thought left him beaming. Jumping in place, Tim gave another whoop, punching the air and then bending over into a fit of high pitched laughter. This was all the joy he would ever need for the rest of his existence.
And then someone screamed.

Tim Drake puts together a very realistic Robin costume for Halloween and gets mistaken for the real deal.

Summary
“You look familiar, have we met?” asked a voice as smooth as silk. Dick turned and saw Bruce holding a wineglass in one hand and extending the other to shake.
“Dick Grayson. You tell me,” said Dick, as he reached out and shook it, studying Bruce's face for any spark of recognition (or hostility). There was none. Instead, a smile flitted across his features, as Bruce drained his glass in one go, placed it on the table next to them, then placed his other hand over their handshake.
“I don't believe we have,” said Bruce, lifting their hands and kissing the top of Dick's knuckles. “But I'd like to rectify that.” Dick froze. Bruce was flirting with him. Bruce, his mentor and father-brother, was going full Brucie-Wayne on him.
When Dick gets hit with a magic spell, all knowledge of him gets erased from the universe. He approaches Bruce to help him reverse it, as per their contingency plan.
Then Bruce starts flirting with him, so he concocts the lie that he is actually the biological son of Thomas Wayne, making him and Bruce half-brothers. Which seems to have gotten Bruce to back off. For now. But Dick’s starting to get suspicious about how easily Bruce bought it.

Author's notes from each chapter! As before, I have to condense: see originals for prompts and warnings. Adding some character names.
1. Here's a short crossover AU about a wayward, wandering Roy Harper arriving to help clean up New York post-Chitauri invasion and encountering a friendly neighborhood ghost. The prompts for this one are: search party, "if only we could hold on." Warnings for references to a canonical character death, but it's been twelve years, so I think we're safe from spoilers.2. Here we have a grim glimpse into the troubled interpersonal dynamics of the Bat-Family. Specifically, this is a chapter about Jason Todd and Bruce Wayne. Warnings for references to violence, including some of the violence they've inflicted on each other. This one leans far more toward whump than h/c, but we've got lighter days ahead, I promise.Prompts for this one are: trust issues, role reversal.
3. Here's a little fic about Roy Harper getting arrested in New York. But don't worry. Jason Todd sends in a local lawyer he knows. Warnings for some vaguely unkind sentiments about Oliver Queen, but nothing too grim in this one, I promise. Prompts for this one are: set up for failure, wrongfully arrested.
4. Another crossover! Here's a fic about Matt Murdock encountering some Gotham nonsense in New York. Does this take place in the same universe as Chapter 3? Maybe!Prompts for this one are: hallucinations, sensory deprivation.
5. I forgot to post yesterday! Whoops. I hope this one's sweet enough to make up for it. Here's a fic about a village offering a sacrifice to the witch in the woods. Despite the summary, there are no warnings for this one. It's pure fluff. Prompts for this one are: sunburn, healing salve.
6. I had a few requests for Phil Coulson and Jason Todd, and one specific request for a continuation of this truth serum fic. So, to balance out the sweetness of the last chapter, here's something a bit more bitter. Warnings for troubling power dynamics, compromised autonomy, and also for drugging people without their consent. The drug in question is a fictional truth serum. Prompts are: not my blood, unhealthy coping mechanisms.
7. Here's a short fic about what happens if, instead of running away to the circus, the Barton brothers fall into a life of organized crime in Kentucky. Specifically, it's about what happens when one Barton brother steals something from the Avengers. Warnings for a bit of violence. Inspiration from this one comes mostly from "Nine Ball" by Zach Bryan and "My Blood" by The Glorious Sons. Prompt is: unconventional weapon.
8. Can't believe we've made it this far without any vampires. Who am I? Anyway, here's a little fic about Frank Castle, lost in the dark, and light from unexpected sources.Prompt is: "leave the lights on."
9. This one wants to be a very long fic about what happens during the Civil War arc if Bucky Barnes takes a detour to Gotham. Sadly, a very long fic is not in the cards right now, but I hope you enjoy the brief glimpse into the universe.The prompt for this one is: “frame me up on the wall, just to keep me out of trouble.”
10. We're more than halfway through October, so it's time for the traditional whumptober hockey au! Here's a sequel to fic I posted here about Roy Harper joining the Avengers.Today's prompts are: blow to the head, slurred words. Warning for references to addiction.
11. Here's a short fic about Clint Barton trying to atone for his past through wilderness search and rescue. Lucky has nothing to atone for, but he helps anyway. Prompts for this one: loneliness, "leave no trace."
12. Uhhh. I hope everyone enjoys this grim little sci-fi visit to a prison planet where everyone's serving a life sentence and the other inmates decide how long that life lasts. I threw in some Hunger Games undertones for extra drama, and I'm not even charging extra. Prompts for this one are: underground caverns, cannibalism. Warnings for, you know. Cannibalism. Which is threatened, but not practiced onscreen. Also, as you might expect, people are fairly brutal to each other in this one.

Dick sags against the kitchen counter, spent and numb. He has no fight left in him. He’ll never be responsible for Tim and Jason being thrown in that system, separated and alone, starving, and… he flashes to what he's heard happens to boys alone in the system. That will never happen to Tim or Jason. He’s damn sure about that.
And if Dick has to take a few hits to keep them safe, so be it. He can do that. Easily. Happily.
Or, AU where Bruce Wayne isn't there when John & Mary Grayson plummet to their deaths. With no Bruce Wayne to take him in and the circus disbanded, Dick Grayson is thrown into the brutal reality of Gotham City's foster care system.

It's okay, though, he only has to last long enough to either keep Emily Prentiss alive or figure out if she's working with a mass terrorist.
