Summary
While Coulson's recovering from being stabbed in the chest by a magical spear, Fury is rapidly running out of Agents willing to play babysitter for the newly founded Avengers. So he calls in Captain John Watson, late of the British Royal Army, and blogger and best friend to the infamously antisocial (presumably deceased) Sherlock Holmes. In hindsight he's not sure if this was a good call or a very, very bad one.
Post-Reichenbach-reunion combined with Coulson-lives, partly because I like looking at cliches from different fandoms, sticking them in one fic and going "now kiss!". Mostly because has anyone else noticed how similar John Watson and Phil Coulson are?

Summary
When the dragons "came out" to the rest of the world, nobody expected the resulting War that broke out between Humans and Beasts. Both sides afraid and suspicious of each other, Humans drove Dragons into slavery, imprisoning them and turning their children into weapons for the military. Forced into hiding, many Dragons disguised themselves as Human and kept their secrets locked away, awaiting for the day when the royal blood line long since vanished would once again reappear and lay waste to the Humans that oppressed them.
John is a reluctant soldier in the Queen's Army, hoping to pay his medical school degree with three years of service. He's just been told to pick out a Dragon from the Kennels to train and serve beside in the War in Afghanistan. More than a little afraid and yet fascinated by the creatures, he just hopes he doesn't end up barbequed...
Sherlock Holmes can't remember his past, but one thing is for certain: He is never going to become some Human's pet. However John Watson doesn't exactly seem like the typical Human.
Can Dragon and Man really get along? Or even more, become friends?

Love Ballads For the Nonbelievers by siennna (Teen, 150K) - Two years after faking his death, Sherlock returns to London with the hopes of finally confessing his love for John. However, his plan is ruined when he discovers that 221B is empty, John is engaged, and the whole world suddenly seems to revolve around John’s supposedly perfect fiancé, Mary. For the sake of preserving their friendship, Sherlock struggles to suppress his feelings and play the part of the best friend, but his love for John refuses to be silenced and the truth doesn’t stay buried for long. (This fic is bloody amazing, one of the best I ever read, and it deserves way more attention than it gets.)

He was focused on the tug in his stomach, the hunger that simmered underneath his human form. The hidden part of him that craved blood, desired the hot richness sliding down his throat. It was an unbeatable thirst. Well, not unbeatable. It could be slaked, but Sherlock refused. The only thing that would soothe the thirst, give him a respite from the burning underneath his skin, was John's blood. If Sherlock drank it, he would bind John to him forever. Sherlock refused to do that, refused to turn John into whatever he was. For this John wasn't the first John.
