Summary
Arcade Gannon hasn't seen Boone in far too long and he needs reassurance his friend is alright.
Unfortunately, that's so far from the truth Arcade can't even grasp his head around it. Neither can Boone or Vulpes/Fox, but they've stopped trying for a long time now.

Summary
“We won!” It’s not subtle, but neither is Thatcher. He runs up, arms out, ready to lift someone up in a hug. Jackson, with the mustache a mile long, is the lucky guy, despite inches of height and pounds of weight over Thatcher.
Jackson’s grin splits his face and looks good doing it. “We won!” He calls it back, like an echo.
We won.
Boone doesn’t hold in his own grin. Years lost, men lost, but they won. His laughter joins the others, and he reaches out and tugs the closest one into a hug as well.
Men cry, but no one talks about that. Boone cries and he won’t mention it later.
Fox holds him in a hug. He’s smaller, but his grip is tight and the tears are real. Boone knows him well enough to know. He can feel the wetness on his own shirt. He’s felt that wetness before.
---
This is not a happy story. This is not a fair story. These characters do not happy healthy heal one another.
But they're flawed individuals who make do with what they have. Unfortunately for both of them, that's only each other.
WELL NOW THERE IS A SEQUEL COMING, SORRY FOLKS, THAT COMMENT GOT ME THINKING.

Summary
Shame formed in a heavy lump, until he swallowed it down his dry throat. If his consumption led to his capture and it was discovered, he'd be crucified. Lucius himself would likely be the one to haul him up, as Lucius always had it out for him ever since he'd risen into the ranks of the frumentarii.
If he escaped, if no one had to know, he could find his way back to Caesar's good graces. Caesar didn't even have to know why he was so interested in ensuring that all went according to what Caesar wanted.
Vulpes hadn't felt fear from the wrong side of things in years, not since that idiot centurion--long since dead and not to be missed or noted-- had demanded that he be lashed to the cross for being brilliant. So orders were broken? He'd won a battle that otherwise would have lost dozens more men before its completion. He won the war, really.
---
Set in a world where Craig Boone has faced Bitter Springs once more and been told war happens and sometimes you just do awful things, too bad. He's taken that to heart, unfortunately for Vulpes.Updates daily.

“I’m just saying, ‘Benman’ isn’t the most swinging nickname you could have.” Swank tossed back his vodka and leaned over the counter towards the Benman in question.
“And I’m 'just saying', you’re wrong. Case closed, end of story.” He leaned in as well until he was close enough Swank could get drunk on the scotch fumes.
“Alright, Benman. It’s a good nickname.” He pulled back and grinned wide, “It’s whatever you say, right?”
“Right.”
Swank tapped the table and pushed his glass closer to Benny, then he patted Benny’s smooth checked jacket right on the shoulder and stepped to the double doors with a backward wave, “I’ve got things to do. I’m glad you’re sticking around this time. A week without you, I was practically beside myself.”
“Yeah yeah, whatever you say, Swank. Go blow somewhere else.” But Benny--Benman--had that tone that said he was pleased, even if only a little, to have Swank miss him. Tough guy he was, Benny opened the scotch again and poured himself another drink.
Swank hummed on the elevator ride down.

Summary
Arcade peeked into the guest bedroom. Boone seemed to be alone. Good. He’d told the others to stay away and not tell Boone why. He hoped they could all take directions for once.
Boone sat at the edge of the bed. He tugged at the neck hole of his white tee, peeled the material up his body, then pulled the shirt off and tossed it across the room into the laundry basket. “What’s that look for?”
Arcade stepped in, locked the door, and swirled the cane with a meandering pace towards his lover. “Nothing.” He watched those eyes focus in on the black cane, heard Boone’s breath hitch. He grinned. “Want to know how my day as a spy went?” He pulled off his hat, the one Gary had insisted he wear, and placed it on a hook on the wall. Normally Boone’s beret went there at night, but he had a feeling the hat would move before the night was through anyway.
Boone eyed him with that nervous sort of excitement he sometimes got when he knew he was going to get some, “Yeah. Tell me.”
-- This is a part in a series and while the first part isn't required to read, you should be aware that Boone and Arcade are partners and this is established slowly in the first part. (Also, Ignacio is a partner.)

He unhooked his one leg from the stool and turned back towards the rest of the bar. "Oh, you've got to be kidding me."
"About what?" Ignacio glanced over one shoulder and appeared to search the bar, but went right on past the culprit Arcade mentioned, as though he didn't notice the nosy NCR sitting with his back to them both in that stupid red hat that might as well have screamed 'Here I am!' for how discreet it was.
"Boone." He stepped past his date with quick steps. "What brings you here."
Boone lifted a brown bottle to his lips and tilted his head back just an inch. Beer held loosely between three fingers, he lowered it and arched a brow in Arcade's direction. "Beer." Once more, he lifted the beer, although this time as though to show off what everyone could already see, like a very uninspired salesman.
((Note, non-con is checked, but only because of non-con roleplay in chapter 5. If you want to avoid that, or you want to especially read that, that's where it is. Everything within the entire story is 100% consensual, including that.))

Summary
Midnight.
"Just." They leaned against the door frame of the small shack and looked out at the desert. They tilted their head back and looked to the moon. One arm lifted, and they tapped through a menu on their bulky Pip-Boy. "I need to leave for a bit. You two, try not to kill one another, yeah?" They didn't even look back, out they went, and the door shut with a whimper of rusted metal at their retreat.
Arcade stepped back into the room that could loosely be described as a bedroom. He was never one to keep things much to himself, but they'd gone so abruptly, so quickly, he didn't have much of a choice. If he couldn't let them know how he felt, he could let Boone know his displeasure. He flung himself back onto the twin bottom mattress and sighed. The bed creaked loudly under his weight.
Boone snorted. A disdainful snort, one that curled with barely contained disgust at that thin upper lip.
"You know, I think he was talking to you about that. I'm a doctor. Do no harm to my patients, and all that." He took note of the eye roll behind those grayed glasses Boone insisted on wearing even in the dark. Even inside. He inhaled his own derisive noise and kept it firmly to himself.

Summary
A knock sounded. The door squeaked. He glared at it, focused so intently on the irritating noise, doubly loud to his fraying mind. "Who the fuck is it? Ain't I told enough a y'all to leave me the Hell enough alone, for y'all to get the hint?"
"Sure, sure. But I figured you were about due for a visit." The King ambled on through the doorway, and gave a sidelong glance up at the guilty hinge. "We oughta fix that pin. Probably could just use a little bit of oil. Just a bit of TLC would have it good as new."
"I don't care." He shuddered in a breath, and hunkered back down in the bed. "Ain't seen you come in here in a long time."
"I guess I got spoiled, having you around me most of the time. I don't normally need to come to you."

Summary
If he were the most important man in a casino, where would he sleep? Not somewhere too far away from the elevator, surely. Important men didn't want to have to walk too far, did they? Eeny, meeny, miney. Well now. Double doors? That was almost too easy.
To knock, or not to knock? A knock could be anyone, they might just answer. If he picked the lock, Benny might hear it, might have a gun at the ready in the meantime.
What could Benny do, shoot him in the head again?
