2. Kevin Day decides that he wants Neil on his team
3. Upon first face to face meeting, Neil has lost his contacts and hasn't been able to get new ones

Abram stood on a beach in California watching the car that held his mother's body burn. In his right hand he clutched his duffle bag, which held his binder, his mother's gun, some spare clothes, and first aid supplies. His left hand clutched a list.

When Mary dies, Abram has a bit of a support network and a few more resources in place to help him through the aftermath. By the time he's recruited to be a Fox, he's a little less oblivious and is a little more sure about what he wants and how to stand up for himself. Stuart's early involvement keeps Nathan and the Moriyamas off his back, and Riko being put on a tighter leash keeps Andrew off the drugs and the Foxes mostly unharmed. As a result, Andrew has had a few more sober years to work out his sexuality, and he's able to work out his feelings about Abram with Betsy much earlier.
Basically, what if the boys were a little less traumatized, and Abram held a hell of a grudge about Columbia.

Summary
Neil had never known family. He knew the definition of it in four different languages and knew the word for it in twice as many. He never understood it, and probably never would.
But, looking out to what seemed like a sea of people in one room, looking into the eyes and the faces of people who would fight for him, people who he would fight for, and home, in the form of blonde hair and an uncaring stare that was a cocktail of both, he guessed that perhaps it would feel a little like this.

Set in the cabin vacation after Baltimore; drunk, honest, sorta sappy Neil (it's Neil) realizing that he's come home, and hoping, for the first time in his life, to stay.
Also: Drunk Neil is excellent at flirting, Andrew wants nothing, and they both give the Foxes heart attacks.

“So… who was that?” Nicky said with a teasing tone, after Andrew had stood there for a beat too long, watching Neil’s retreat.
Andrew did not have the energy to deal with him. He just sat down heavily and scooped his now melted ice cream into his mouth. Aaron kicked Andrew’s shin and glared at him.
Andrew sighed. He hated how pushy his family was sometimes, “We were in juvie together.”
“Are you going to tell us his name? He seems nice. He’s gorgeous,” Allison said matter of factly.
Andrew just stared at her, debated answering, he didn’t like Allison, “Neil.”
“So are you two-“
“No,” Andrew bit out, less his answer to the question but more to the question itself. Neil was none of their business.
“But that’s not-“
“No,” Andrew said again, his tone sharp.

“Very serious. All you have to do is sign and you’re mine for five years, but you’re also set. Your coach said you want to go to med school. You could save part of your stipend and any other money to put towards it. You’d have less loans, and many med schools would like to see a more ambitious application.”
“I don’t know if I can do this.” Adam said, so quietly he wasn’t sure if the others in the room would hear him. “I’ve already been accepted into Harvard. I don’t know if I’d choose Palmetto after that.”
“Does it sweeten a deal to know we are wanting to recruit Lynch as well?”
