The silence that coats the drive back to the lodge is a tattered, tired thing. It lays heavily on Ryan, Laura, and Travis with the intangible and claustrophobic weight of a thundercloud. Steve can’t help but think that he and Bucky are the bud of some kind of twisted cosmic joke, teased just within reach of one another only to be catapulted away again. Steve is always too late. Bucky always slipping through his fingers. There isn’t a line that Steve wouldn't cross for James Buchanan Barnes. That much is bombastically obvious in the flaming wreckage of friendships and German airports alike. But he doesn't know what to do now. He doesn't know how to help the most important person in his life.

He had thought that maybe being with Dick would fix things. He had thought that maybe Dick: golden, beautiful Dick Grayson could have filled him with all that light he carried around inside of him. He thought he could replace the rotting hate and madness inside of him with that light.
He was a fucking idiot.The sequel/companion fic to Ashes of Arkham, while it's not exactly necessary to read the before mentioned fic in this series to get this fic it is highly recommended in order to get the full effect.

Teddy Altman used to be invisible. He couldn't have even claimed the mantle of outcast, that would have implied that there was some form of acknowledgment, that he was actively cast out of some group or clique. No, Teddy just hadn't seemed to exist to his peers. That had all changed when he met Greg Norris, the super-popular basketball star of his high school. What had followed was a series of late night parties, bad decisions, and underage drinking. It seemed like a great idea at the time. Teddy's grades and mother begged to differ.
So this year was going to be different for Teddy. He was going to make better choices. He was going to keep from going back to being invisible. It was all about finding balance. Except this year is when the universe decided to give him Billy Kaplan. The result is about what you'd expect.
One thing is for sure, Teddy is definitely thankful for choosing the two years of American Sign Language he took.

When these star-crossed lovers meet the world of M will never be the same as they are swept up in a storm of politics and war...but they might just save all of reality in the process.

The galaxy is still reeling from the war with the Reapers. The crew of the Normandy still morns the death of Commander Shephard. It is a time for healing, or at least it should be. Cerberus is under new management and has used the chaos to reorganize and begin anew. Kaidan Alenko has been charged with refining his Special operations Biotic company to meet the threat of Cerberus and many others. Miranda Lawson has been assigned to assist him in that endeavor. Kaidan is not sure how he feels about that, their relationship is...complicated, to see the least.
