Bolts of orange lightning spread across the dark sky. They spark, just as beautiful as the fireworks miles away, and their thunder booms across the sky, drowning out Piper and Jason with ease.
Secretly, he hopes there's a boy out there, riding the back of the dragon, and Jason hopes he can feel the lightning Jason had made just for him.

They'd sat on the steps of some shitty run-down apartment, except this year there weren't any fireworks. It was pouring rain, soaking through Leo's clothes, steam rising from his skin. Leo couldn't tell what was rain or tears on his face anymore, as cracks of lightning split the sky and thunder rolled through the city.
"I want to go home," Leo sobs, a shaking raspy breath pulling from his throat.
He looks back to the sky, looks at the lightning, listens to the thunder, and mutters prayers to the gods for safe travels.
He doesn't get them.
Or, four times Jason missed Leo, and the one time Leo missed Jason.

Summary
Zuko realizes his destiny much earlier. As in, as soon as he wakes up in the palace after his Agni Kai and is told he is banished. Unfortunately, he's never been a patient one. So he storms right up to Ozai and tells him what he's going to do. And gets locked up for over three years. Then, one day, he's being pulled out and told he's the new Fire Lord.
A "Zuko never meets the Gaang and suddenly becomes Fire Lord after three years of literal torture" AU. In which the Gaang doesn't know what to think of the new Fire Lord who happens to be the missing nephew of Aang's firebending teacher, Iroh constantly has a headache, and, sure, maybe the world hates the Fire Nation, but the Fire Nation LOVES Zuko, and he can work with that.

The effect was almost instantaneous. Most of them groaned, a few of them squealed, and others, like Sophia, only groaned and buried their face in a pillow.
Because, as they all perfectly knew, Will and Nico were perfect for each other. Will was the last person Nico talked to every night (they had spies, and they knew everything). They surprised each other with their favorite treats (fruity twizzlers and mcdonalds), and they could always tell what kind of mood the other was in, just by the first few words in their sentence. Nico knew how Will preferred his omelets, and the fact that Will could eat breakfast for every meal. Will knew Nico's favorite firework.
But they are absolutely, totally, completely not dating.
And the Aphrodite cabin is having none of that.

“Hold the questions, Grover,” another voice said, as smaller hands gripped his shirt and started dragging him past the invisible line drawn by the pine tree. Right, Percy thought, the weird cult kids. “We have to get him into camp.”
Another set of hands joined him and with the extra support he made it into the valley, spotting lights on in a farmhouse in the distance. A small part of Percy registered that he wasn’t getting rained on anymore even though he could still hear the storm raging in the distance. Instead, his gaze locked with a pair of cool grey eyes framed by pieces of blonde curls. “How did you get here? Who is your godly parent?”
He could hear his mother’s voice echoing in his ears, months and months ago: no one can know, Percy. Even the gods.
“I don’t know.”

Three shots ring out.
Steve hears them before he feels them; a warm, wet pain burning in his torso, intolerably excruciating.
There’s a bundle of squawks and screams, outbursts of panic and anger, and it’s only when Hopper falls forwards to take Steve up into a slightly rough, protective hold, does he realize that two of those shots have lodged themselves in his own flesh and bone. (Realizes that he’d moved, instinctively, to shield El, despite never having spoken to her, who’d the gun had been so precisely pointed at, aimed for.)
Steve Harrington watches his own blood pool and trickle over a series of hands pressed against him, small and large, soft and rugged, and for a moment, wants to stay like this. He can’t.
