Wilbur Soot stared at the boy sat across from him. Tommy’s sixteenth birthday had gone off without a hitch. It was 11 pm and the day was almost over.
“What are you waiting for? You’ve made me wait all day for your stupid gift Wilbur. You have about ten seconds before I go back outside prick.” Tommy interrupts Wilburs internal train of thought and the older teen scowls at the blonde.
“Ok ok. I wanted to do a whole speech but I forgot it so here goes. Kid, you’re the avatar.”
Tommy’s screech like laughter fills the room and Wilbur crosses his arms over his chest smugly. He stomps one foot on the ground and pushes his arm out, sending a large rock in the direction of his adoptive brothers face. Tommy is a firebender.
The blonde screeches and holds his hands out defensively. He keeps his eyes closed for about 5 seconds before he opens them and stares in awe. The rock stopped just before it hit his out-pushed hands. There’s a long moment of silence.
“DADDD AM I THE AVATAR???”

Tommy finally found him by the beach. They hadn't been back there in what felt like forever, it seemed like years ago Tommy had found the older male injured and bleeding in the forest.
"So, you've been here all day," The blonde said to announce his presence but the other didn't seem to notice or bother signaling he did. Tommy took a careful step forward but stopped a few feet away from the seated male. "Everyone's been worried,"
"They shouldn't be," Dream said softly. Tommy frowned. He took notice the other's mask was resting on the ground to his left and felt his confusion rise.
"Why not?" He decided to humor the other. Dream sighed heavily and looked up to the sky causing his hood to pool around his shoulders.
"Am I a bad person, Tommy?" The teen's heart stopped, Dream went on. "Did I really do all those bad things?" His head lowered once more and his shoulders shook slightly.
"How bad did I hurt you?" He whispered.

The house had always changed and grown, ever since Ranboo could remember. He watched as his brother lifted planks into place, hammered things in, carved stone walls. Change had always been a constant. He sat in front of the fire, watching the flames dance across the stone as he listened to soft music. It floated in the air like delicate ice, tinkling softly. He hummed along, the melody vibrating deep into the stone.
“Ranboo.” His brother’s voice made him look up, into a calm face, a small smile. He never looked right in his eyes, it always made him upset. “Shh. It’s making the house vibrate again.” A finger is pressed against his brother’s lips.
“Sorry,” Ranboo said, looking back into the fire. He pulled his bunny plushie closer, rubbing the end of the ear between his fingers. He felt gentle hands push through his hair, carding through it as his brother started singing along to the music.
