Stale smoke hung in the air, creating a haze that lingered above the heads of a wide variety of patrons. In a place that thrived on dodging legalities, every manner of sin and social faux pas took place behind the closed doors of local speakeasies. That’s why Alastor loved it here. No one cared what the colour of your skin was, how much money your daddy had—or didn’t have, how high the skirts were hiked, nor if your chosen company had the same anatomy as you. There was freedom in these dark rooms filled with the thrumming beat of slow jazz and liberally poured drinks of questionable origin.
Alastor Delacour is the Toast of New Orleans, the golden voice of radio in a town bustling with all manner of depravity in a time when being straight, white, and privileged was the only way to get ahead. He was none of those things, but his favorite Friday night companions—his old flame and his protégé-in-training—most certainly were. He chose not to hold it against them.
An up-and-coming television personality, Vincent Whittman was determined to make his star shine brighter—no matter what it took. A few choice words from his mentor had set him down a dark path that was both dangerous and unexpectedly thrilling.

Summary
After the Heaven takeover fail leaves Vox at the lowest point of his afterlife, he makes a wish he never expected to come true: for Alastor to love him and be his. At first, it feels like a dream come true. But as devotion twists into obsession and Alastor becomes increasingly unlike himself, Vox realizes getting everything he ever wanted may have been the worst thing that could have happened. Now Vox is left trying to undo the damage with the reluctant help of a version of Alastor from six months in the past—a version who is not cursed, is very aware of what Vox has done, and is trying not to strangle him over it.
In other words: Vox uses a wish locket to make Alastor fall in love with him. The results might not be what he thought he wanted.

“Tell me you want me,” he says, voice low and rough from sleep. The room is swathed in dark shadows, the only light that of the glow of the ever-present neon signs outside the tower seeping in through the half open curtains.
“I want you,” Alastor says immediately, voice so bland and lifeless Vox slips his hand around to the back of Alastor’s neck to jerk sharply on his hair, head snapping back.
“Say it,” he bites out, “like you mean it.”
Vox finally has Alastor right where he's always wanted him, in any way he's ever imagined.
So why is it still not enough?

Ridiculously careful, Vox combs his sharp claws through the red hair. Through the lush bangs, over the velvety soft ears folded back. Alastor doesn’t stir. His face turned away from him. Yet every now and then he blinks. Slowly, so slowly that Vox can almost believe he’s enjoying it.

Summary
In an instant, all the lights and electronics within the lounge shut off, bathing the room in absolute darkness. Alastor’s crimson dials were initially the only sources of light that could be seen, up until his chin was forcefully grabbed and his gaze was wrenched up and bathed in the bright, electric blue glow of Vox’s screen.
“Sorry, Alastor,” Vox chuckled, his layered voice becoming the only thing Alastor could hear other than the sounds of his own rapid breathing and pounding heart. “Your operating system’s obsolete.”
Alastor caught sight of that large, twisting red eye, and like that, he was trapped.
No matter how much his body struggled, his gaze was longer able to break away from that swirling crimson pit. “Vox—!”
“So!” The clawed hand moved around Alastor’s throat to shut him up before he could finish his plea. Vox’s grin was manic. “We’re gonna get inside that head of yours and make a few changes!”

Summary
When Vox opened the door, he found his wife sitting by the kitchen table. Alastor stiffened when he saw him, and quickly stuffed the last piece of whatever he’d had for breakfast into his mouth, barely chewing before he swallowed. A drop of blood ran down his chin.
“... Welcome home, darling.” Alastor rose from the table. “Are you hungry? I’ll make you breakfast.”
He turned around to the kitchen counter. The soft little tail moved as he began to open the cupboards, and Vox couldn’t resist anymore; he closed in on him, reaching out and squeezing the tail hard.
Alastor froze. “V-vox!”
Vox draped himself against Alastor’s back. “As good as breakfast sounds, sweetheart, there’s something else I’m hungry for.”
“Vox, stop! You- the neighbors might see!”
Vox comes back late after a night on the town, but at home, there’s problems. When did his sweet wife start to get so disobedient?
