“You’re an idiot,” Ranboo hisses, jostling Tommy in his arms and giving him one last chance to wake up and save Ranboo from saving him. “This is your fault.”
Tommy stays silent, only a jagged little breath escaping him, lungs wheezing unnaturally against Ranboo’s arms. Ranboo loses every scrap of hesitation.
“Just this once,” he breathes, cradling Tommy tight. “Just this once.”
~ ranboo hates sickness, until tommy's the one who gets sick. then, ranboo can't seem to leave his friend behind.

Being dead was the most freeing thing Ghostboo had ever experienced. He wasn't weighed down by the need to hide who he hung out with, to switch between houses, to worry about the enderwalk, or the Syndicate, or what side he was on or what experiment he'd put himself through next - he got to relax for the first time in, well, he would say life but that didn't quite apply anymore. That was until he went to Snowchester, until he went to Tubbo.
Or rather Ghostboo goes home hating who he was alive and finds out he was loved.

Ranboo stopped and stared. Tubbo, the servant, had just told him, the newly crowned king, to shut up.

“Why-” Dream’s mask turns at Ranboo’s croak. A few drops of rain dot the ground. His fingers curl into the dirt. “Why are you doing this..?”
“Because-” a foot kicks his chest forcing Ranboo onto his back. Dream slams his boot down on his chest, leaning over him casually. “You ruined my plans. I’ll be coming back in a couple of days to check on things. Who knows, maybe this will be a good lesson for you.”
Instead of Tommy being exiled for burning George's house, Ranboo is. He doesn't have a very good time.

In his bones, the ache of loneliness has set in. Worse than that, the seatbelt digs into his ribs and one of his arms is twisted uncomfortably. Broken, maybe. The ship has realigned, and he can hear the dinging warning of oxygen leaks and damage, flashing red lights, but he lets his head drop to his chest. He closes his eyes.
Tommy is alone.
Floating in the middle of space as his water supply runs out is the last place that Tommy wants to be, but he's resigned to the fact that it might be his fate. That is, until a ship finally picks up on his transmissions...

Summary
When Tommy was hungry, he would crouch in the underbrush and wait for a rabbit to come by, shooting it with an arrow before spitting it over a small campfire.
When he was tired, he would rest against a tree or maybe climb into one for the night.
When he was lonely or scared or sad, he had no solution. Walking through the forest alone was better than being tortured by Dream, better than a pool of lava or a tall tower of dirt blocks, he reasoned. And he was only a temporary forest-man. Still, the quiet grated on his ears.
An AU in which Tommy runs away from not only Dream but the entire SMP, finding a new life and peace (and maybe an orphan who needs a home). When he's forced out of hiding seven years later, he's a changed man -

“I mean… yeah, let’s go with that in case this ends up on the news,” Siren shrugged, looking back at Tommy. “I kidnapped you, right?”
“Yeah, sure,” Tommy agreed, knowing that if they said he was kidnapped, it would keep people from getting suspicious of why he was seen in public with Siren. “Anyway, can I get the chicken nuggets happy meal, with a coke?”
or, how Tommy—who is not a hero, or a villain, or even a vigilante—saves the life of one of L'Manberg's most feared supervillains, and accidentally ends up becoming the resident doctor for every supervillain in town (and maybe gets a family along the way too).
