Coil stopped, realizing two things in that moment. One, he maybe, just possibly has a crush on Shuriken… and two— Slingshot was going to try and kill him.
Coil groaned, throwing his head back against the cushions behind him. He was so fucking screwed. It wasn’t even funny anymore!
“Uhh— hey, it’s okay dude! Uhh… maybe you don’t? I mean, how could you have a crush on the guy when you’ve only talked to him once or twice or—”
“Skate, he gave me his scarf once and I keep thinking about his scent.”

Coil has an idea. He's got a ton of those, but this one in particular could either go really well or really bad, and there's no clear way to define what exactly happens in those two outcomes. All he has to do is just risk it.
Wolf said it was a bad habit of his. Coil didn't really care.

Hiding behind a careless mask and a persona, he turned away from his purpose and has resorted to carelessness and nihilism, leaving the "old him" behind.
But, Coil can't let that happen. He's stubborn.
