The first letter Essek receives from Caleb Widogast is secreted into his pocket at some point during a tense interview with the Bright Queen. For the life of him, Essek cannot figure out how it was done. He doesn’t recall so much as brushing against the other man as he escorted the Mighty Nein out of the Lucid Bastion.
Yet when he returns to his office, there it is, tucked into a nearly invisible pocket in his mantle — a piece of subpar parchment folded to vaguely resemble a cat’s face with tiny pointed ears.

Summary
The Shadowhand has taken a liking to a human.
That’s what the gossip at Vurmas Outpost says, anyway. Entertainment is hard to find when opening a window is a safety hazard and ‘seeing some fresh faces’ is only possible in the context of unearthing yet another adventuring party that has recently perished while trying to brave the Eiselcross wilds without a guide. Endless white mountainscapes dull the mind, fray it thin, and turn it to the only possible alternative source of discovery inside bleak walls—interpersonal drama.
Caleb Widogast has a charm about him, some would agree. What is most curious, however, is the fact that this charm seems to work on Essek of Den Thelyss. This is nigh on incomprehensible, even when the evidence is right there before their very eyes.Bookmarked by Crownonymous

No matter what people say, Essek isn’t a god. As far as the proper classification goes, he’s not even a lesser idol. But he is a deity and the powers he possesses make people whisper his name like a prayer and seek his guidance in matters that transcend knowledge of mortal arcanists.
But, in the end, it's always the same: they cower in fear before him as soon as they realise the size of destruction he’s capable of. There’s no reason to believe that Caleb Widogast would be any different.

The more Verin dug into it, the more convinced he became. Essek had spent an inordinate amount of time with the Mighty Nein when they came to Rosohna. Done all sorts of strange favors for them. Ferried them all over Wildemount. Arranged visits with prisoners in the Dungeon of Penance. Let them dig up his yard. Descended into Aeor with them, unaccompanied. Accepted invitations to dinner. Let one of them hug him. In public. More than once.
Mind control. It had to be.
Verin gets it into his head that Essek has been kidnapped by the Mighty Nein (specifically Caleb), and sets out on a solo rescue mission to Rexxentrum.
Hijinks ensue.

"The guilt that had hidden itself behind Caleb’s heart, which pierced through him with every flirtatious smile and word between him and Essek, was now full front and center."
Molly is gone, and then he is back but not really, and then he is really back, and Caleb's heart is twisted past it's breaking point. Essek's patience is tested as he waits for Caleb to respond to his affections. While he waits, Essek helps rehabilitate Molly from his second death. Molly, adrift and unsure of himself more than either Caleb or Essek, smiles through the bone-deep desire to grasp at any hands that come near him- desperate to keep himself weighted down.
The sun and the moon dance around eachother, eternally at a distance- the missing piece is the space between them, where dark and light mix in twilight.

Danny's trying to recover all the shards to an entity's chalice so that it'll stop destroying the zone while tensions rise amongst his subjects- and trying to finish high school.
Tim's juggling his case load, his work as CEO, and does not have time to be embroiled in a sex scandal right now. If that means he has to pretend to date a very suspicious heir to a rival company, then so be it.
It's a mutually beneficial relationship. So what if Tim's becoming a little too intrigued by the illusive, powerful Phantom? So what if Danny can't stand the Justice League for leaving him to deal with all of Amity's problems when he was just 14? That's a superhero thing.
And their fake boyfriend has no clue that they're a superhero.
