Jean is dressed sharply in her usual workwear, save that her blouse is replaced with a white button-up with a more masculine cut and a pair of braces dangling off her trouser buttons and swinging lazily on the outside of her thighs. He also can catch something red and blue sticking out of the corner of her trouser pocket if he squints from where they are seated toward the back of the club, but doesn’t mind it too much, focused on the command of the room, his dear friend just so happens to be wielding. With the sort of fiery confidence that got her involved in their Operation to begin with, she smirks at the crowd and announces into her handheld microphone, “Hello, all. I’m Jean Leslie, I’m in my twenties, and I’m a comedian, although I prefer the title ‘professional tea-spiller,’ literally and figuratively, and I think I’m going to kill my boss.”

“Is your sister going to be present?” John asks, which earns the Lieutenant Commander the attention of the room. This includes a look of confusion from Charles, who snags his mug from the counter, and Monty apparently neglected to mention he had a sister to.
“I believe Joyce will be if the Fair Captain can get leave,” Monty responds, before his brain catches up with itself. Why on earth did it matter if his sister was present?
“No, not Joyce, the other one,” John hand waves in between bites of his biscuit as Monty cocks an eyebrow in confusion, considering he only has one sister. “Quite fit, looks rather a lot like you.”
Ah. This is rather uncomfortable.

With an undone white bow tie, a half-done-up white tuxedo shirt, and hairpins scattering the floor, Monty sits in his star trailer far later than he should be on set. Looking like utter shit, he nurses a half-finished brandy and smokes a fag while his chest rises and falls heavily. Usually, he’d worry about people popping into his trailer when he’s in this state, with the thin scars on his chest scars apparent for all to see and his hair undone from the bun that keeps it tightly wound, but he’s in too sorry of a state to care. Today had been an utter mess. It was Debra’s fault, to be fair, for making a pig’s ear of everything and trying to steal his spotlight. Then there was the issue with the rigging of the fly rail for the big finale and one would think that if Hollywood had figured out the bloody musical movie with Meet Me in St. Louis amongst others, they’d be able to do it for him. But no. Why would it be that easy for him?

He wasn’t thinking straight, in any semblance of the term, which is only further evidenced by the fact they’d ordered yet another round of drinks in the face of the plethora of spirits they’d already downed along the bar crawl that Monty insisted upon. Still, it was sweet, in a queer sort of way, that Monty had wanted to grant him this male homosocial bonding experience that he’d missed out on at university and in the RAF, even if the precarity of the Operation made Charles more nauseous than the exorbitant amount of liquor he’d downed this evening.

reads the end of a letter on one of the desks of the Mystery Room, belonging to one Detective Constable Lucy Baker, considering the state of slightly less disarray that the work space is in. Alfendi had happened upon it unintentionally when searching Lucy’s desk for a file pertaining to a recent murder of a man who looked like he was bitten in half by a shark, despite being in the penthouse of a hotel, as they needed to interrogate the bellhop who happened upon the scene for questioning. But the rather unique stationary, penmanship, and a rather familiar logo caught the corner of his eye and he couldn’t help but forget about the missing upper half of the billionaire.

Summary
Merlin watches Arthur leave. He has to forcibly remind himself about what he can and cannot have; who and what he is. Thrice damned. Blessed to be alive, in Camelot, and at Arthur’s side. He needs nothing more.
For now, Merlin has paperwork to do and more magical artefacts to buy back from the citizens of Camelot. He takes a couple of moments to reconstruct himself, reaching for some ambient magic and using it to stabilise his tired body and revitalise his mind.
He can’t fall over when there is more work to do. When he opens his eyes, Merlin straightens his itchy court outfit and sets off to be the best Court Sorcerer he can be.
The sequel to Soldier, Peasant, King where Merlin, now serving as Camelot’s Court Sorcerer, must weigh his personal wish to accept the king’s mutually-desired advances to court him against his professional duty: to help bring about and sustain Camelot’s Golden Age as prophesied and witnessed in the Crystal of Neahtid. Of course, the very same Crystal paints a future for him and Arthur as a harbinger of heartache.

When one runs the most notable holistic detective agency in the Pacific Northwest, the second most frequent cases, besides the inordinate amount of kittens that go missing from Seattle, tend to be of the death-y sort. Clients are always concerned with who murdered whom, which was rather intriguing and mysterious early on, but by the umpteenth death, it really feels as if people can do much more interesting things than murdering one another. On occasion, murders were more intriguing, like the time with the deceased sentient alpaca and associated alchemical book smuggler, but of the late? It had been rather droll. That’s why when a reverse murder mystery came about at a local museum where the curators were concerned with who reanimated said dead bodies, Dirk Gently took the case without hesitation.
Halloween Themed Case Fic involving elements including but not limited to an Anglophobic Murderous Skeleton, Former Blackwing Projects who run a combination funeral home and raft rental company, and the TSA. Written for the DGHDA 2021 Halloween Mini Bang.

“Alright,” Scripps says, throwing up his arms in mock surrender, earning a rare, small laugh from his classmate. Trying to keep up the rapport, Scripps places a hand on his chin and eyes Pos, “Still, she seems a bit—”
“Distressingly heterosexual? Yes,” Posner says with a resolute flippancy in his voice. He gingerly closes the book and sets it down with a distant smile on his face. “But it’s about the yearning, Scrippsy, don’t you understand?”

On most occasions, if a certain holistic detective was given the opportunity, he would enjoy the calmness that came with the universe deciding to be fairly quiet and not delivering unbidden hunches at a mile a minute. However, it is— all things considered— getting quite old. He hates being trapped inside, feeling like he’s in the eye of the storm, and like the second he leaves this ridiculous little flat that he will be flung headfirst into a very large and frightening bloody disaster. And he aches, knowing that he’s supposed to help people be where they need to go, and instead he’s just watching them walk the streets of Cambridge below when they all should be at home. Stupid ruddy bats always stealing fruit, flying into walls, and causing global pandemics.
Based on my interpretation of the aftermath of Socially Distanced Dirk which originally aired at the 2021 Douglas Adams Memorial Lecture and written for the DGHDA 2021 Beginner Bang.

Dirk grasps at straws to try and find a solution. The detective doesn’t have time to actually work it through, he just tries to word and pray that something comes out that will help assuage Todd’s emotions. “Perhaps if we know why they are haunting the gymnasium, we can ask them to leave or pass onto the next world or something… Or maybe—”
Todd shakes his head and cuts off the detective countering the ramblings spiral. “They’ve been here for over a century. They aren’t just going to pack up and leave. Look, I think you’re going about this all wrong.”
Wrong.
Dirk subconsciously flinches at the word as if he is undergoing electroshock treatment in real-time once more. The word buzzes in his brain and repeats itself like a needle in his brain.
Wrong!
Todd continues trailing off on the case and it’s quite possibly the last thing he can focus on at the moment as his fingers start tense and the incoming breath feels heavier than before. “We should talk to the headmaster. Farah said— Dirk?”
