The only thing Viktor can remember when he wakes up in the hospital is Jayce. His panicked face haloed by a searing white light, and his hushed assurances that 'it'll all be okay, Vik,' and 'I've got you, you're okay.' When Viktor tries to sit up too fast and lets out a barely-there nosie of pain, Jayce is already at his side, pressing him gently back down into the mattress as the warmth of Jayce's hands seeped clear into Viktor's skin.
It wasn't too hard for Viktor to figure out they were together, considering all that, and that Jayce had very plainly told him they were partners.

“Gods above,” Lu Ten breathed.
“Ozai and I have a plan,” Ursa whispered. “I’m going to kill him.”
“That’s treason!” Lu Ten hissed.
“I will not survive the night.” Ursa closed her eyes. “I need your help, Lu.”
“Anything.”
“Without me, Zuko and Azula will have no one to protect them from him. You must take them as far from this place as possible.”
Lu Ten’s own life was in jeopardy, for any child he bore would have a claim on the throne.
“Please,” Ursa begged. “My life is forfeit, but my children—”
