“I’m not ordering Hawaiian,” Jason said immediately as he pulled up the menu for the local pizza place. He stayed pressed to Dick’s side, revelling in the physical pressure provided by human contact, and he was pretty sure Dick was also leaning back into him as well.
“Not even if I say please?” Dick asked sweetly.
“Fuck that.” Jason ordered a Hawaiian anyway.

“Jason pushed every ounce of I love you I love you I love you into the hug and he could feel every bit of it in Dick’s hold as well. It was so ever-present that Jason could never doubt it ever again that Dick Grayson loves you . He was up there in his brother’s heart next to people like Donna Troy and Clark Kent—gods in their own rights, people much greater than Jason could ever hope to be, and yet Dick Grayson loves him.”

So wild that I got this random craving for VLD fics three years after the show ended—three years after I stopped caring about it or the fandom, really—but this was just so, so sugary sweet, and has the clear, sparkling kind of characterization that only early-days (2016-2017) Voltron-era can get you. What a lovely nostalgia trip, man. <3

So damn sharp. A three-fold character study with fantastic dialogue and captivating narration. A must-read for anyone wanting to write a fear toxin fic. (Read the author's note, too! It gives some great insight that I completely agree with. Well done!!)

Bookmarker's Notes
This fic has been stuck in my head for years. So heartfelt, and such lovely characterization. The inner monologue narration captures Robin’s character in all her weird, eclectic idiosyncrasies so perfectly, and I’ve yet to see another Will-and-Robin-bonding-fic that quite matches up to this one (though there are several other unforgettable ones out there, too). Every time I think about what Will’s character *could* be, I unconsciously come back to this fic. The execution is perfect, and while that can sometimes make the actual source material that much more disappointing (thanks, Season 4), I just feel lucky to have found a little story that means this much to me. Thanks for putting this little treat out into the world.

Robin looks at him then, again, and she gets it. She gets him. He’s young and he’s sort of broken—not because he likes boys or because he’s in love with his best friend—broken because he’s been through so much with so little life experience, and he’s come out the other side cracked and chipped and a little unsteady, which is to be expected, but he’s still strong. Stronger than anyone she’s ever known, will ever know. That’s enough, more than enough.

Bookmarker's Notes
Original Bookmark from June 7th, 2020:
There’s too much for me to say about this fic. It is 1:30 AM and my heart is bursting and my hands are trembling and my cheeks hurt from smiling. Never in all my years of reading have I found a story where a platonic relationship is given so much agency, so much weight, and I cannot tell you how much it means to me to see that. This Steve and Robin have something so, so special, that even though I’m still unconvinced it’s even possible to find outside of fiction, it makes me something hopeful. I had to take a five minute break about a fourth of the way through this fic because I was crying too hard to make out the words clearly. I may not have what Steve has with Robin in my own life, but I still felt seen for the first time in recent memory. I can’t think of any other story where a platonic relationship is held to as high a value—if not higher, in some instances—than a romantic relationship, and I am forever grateful for that.
Even beyond my own personal connections to this story, the prose is absolutely phenomenal, and quite literally inspiring—I can’t help but feel the need to go off and write something of my own now. The characterizations were believable and enjoyable, and the love shared not only between Robin and Steve but also between Nancy, Jonathan, and Steve was so overwhelmingly powerful. I don’t think any other fic has been able to make my heart feel quite as full as it does right now.
I’m sure I’m leaving something out here, but I’ve said everything that’s been cycling through my mind for the past couple of hours, so I’m satisfied for now. I only wish I could more eloquently express the depth of my gratefulness, love, and appreciation for this fic.
Thank you <3.

One of the most iconic, textbook dickwally series I've ever had the pleasure of reading (as well as one of the first and most influential for me in my foray into DC fandoms, so for that I will always be grateful!). I keep coming back to it over and over and over again. Their relationship feels as natural as breathing, and I just love the exploration of Dick and Wally as realistic young adults navigating the world and their relationship with one another in an authentic and genuine way. Sweet as cotton candy, but grounded in delicious realism all at the same time. Absolutely beyond wonderful.

Summary
Someone pulls the blindfold off his eyes and Wally feels completely justified in grinning once he sees Dick, nothing but bright blue eyes and messy hair. “Hey,” he says, feeling giddy in a way he hadn't expected, but that might just be the whole ‘thought I'd never see my friends and family again’ thing.
Dick doesn't grin back and that's almost the weirdest thing that's happened to him today, considering the world had almost ended.
Then, Dick backs up and stands next to Wally West, so he was definitely wrong, because nothing can top this.

Bookmarker's Notes
Overwhelmingly good, even in just four thousand words. This set of circumstances is something so unique to the queer experience, but one I see so rarely talked about, even by other queer people. Not wanting to come out, even to people who you know truly would accept you, is still your own choice to make. To have that taken from you in such a mundane way is something so realistic, but not at all less heartbreaking. I’m in the same boat Tim is, insofar as I’m not currently out to many people except to maybe two or three of the people I’m closest to, and it has taken me YEARS of dropping hints, because I never wanted it to change how they saw me. It’s no less valid for me (or for Tim, in this story) to not want to come out, even if “just” for that reason alone. Everyone needs to understand the crux of this fic, because it’s a real experience so many queer people go through, and it is one so rarely talked about.
Aside from that, this story has, as always for this author, top-shelf Tim characterization and incredibly profound emotional description. An insightful premise all around handled with the utmost care and respect (quite understandably, given the author’s note). I implore everyone to give this a read.

Bookmarker's Notes
It might be the stomach bug, might be the late hour, or it might just be my own incompetence—but the perplexing, unsettling, open-ended nature of this fic is so enticing. It’s difficult for me to parse exactly what’s going on, but that certainly fits the genre, so I consider that a plus, actually.
The characterization is so sharp and incredibly impressive. Outstanding back-and-forth banter, the kind that Dick and Steph always need to have (unless Dick is in one of his douchebag eras), and Dick is balanced perfectly on the line between playfully sassy and down-to-business leader mode. What I find most impressive above all, though, is how this fic displays Dick for the detective he really is—it’s something sorely lacking in the majority of batfam fics, and this fic really scratched that itch for me. Loved it!!! Perfectly spooky Halloween vibes
