Tony knew this wasn't some trick. He had even asked FRIDAY earlier to review security footage to see if someone had broken in and planted all of this even though he knew someone hadn't. Because none of it was new. He knew it had all been here before today because he had seen it. But it was like he was only truly seeing it all for the first time.
Somewhere, deep inside his chest, something ached with an old, familiar pain of waiting for someone to come home.
He didn't know why. Didn't know whose running footsteps he expected in the hall followed by Morgan's giggles. He didn't know whose half-finished homework laid open on the desk waiting upstairs. Didn't know whose mug sat blank in a cupboard. Whose stocking now hung from its designated place on the mantel. Whose room waited at the end of the hall.
He only knew, with an absolute certainty that made no sense at all, that there should have been four.
That somehow, somewhere-
They had lost one.

He has a job, an apartment and a very rich uncle who doesn't know he exists. He'd like to keep it that way, but that's a bit hard after a stray gunshot (OK, maybe he kind of walked up to the robber) lands him in the hospital. With all other emergency contacts unavailable, Gotham General somehow digs up a relative- Bruce Wayne.Predictably, he has a few questions.

Dinner couldn’t pass fast enough. Percy tried to enjoy the time with his friends, he really did, but there was a constant pressure building on his head that made it pretty hard to focus on a conversation. He stared at the pasta in front of him and tried once again to fork it into a nice spiral, but he missed and scraped the edge of his plate.
“Really, Percy? You can kill a whole army of demons, but you can’t fork your spaghetti?” Leo called out from across the table.
Percy looked up. His face suddenly felt hot. “Hey, maneuvering pasta onto a fork is way harder than that,” he half joked.
Percy knew Leo was just poking fun, but he couldn’t help but feel like it had exposed a truth that even he didn’t want to realize. Percy was only good at fighting and killing; he was basically incompetent otherwise.

What if a couple careless sentences at the Valor Ball cost Nephis more than she thinks?
This is a What If — or, if you want to be less generous about it, a low-effort self-indulgent side project running alongside my main fic, because apparently one multi-ship story wasn't chaos enough for one author. The divergences start small and snowball fast the further in you get.
The premise: Nephis's words at the ball send Sunny down a far more ruthless, power-hungry path than the canon ever gave him. He claws his way to the Fourth Step of Shadow Dance and Tyrant-rank months ahead of schedule, throws himself into sorcery with a new kind of obsession, and builds a web of connections he never would've bothered cultivating otherwise. And somewhere in all of it, he starts to deliberately put distance between himself and Nephis.
Everything traces back to that one moment at the ball — though the roots reach all the way back to the Forgotten Shore.

Peter wakes up with yet another new phenotypic spider trait: venom glands and altered canine teeth.
With this new characteristic comes an unbearable ache; a pain that bleeds into his head and further complicates Peter's sense of identity, testing his strict morality as arachnid instincts fight to display themselves alongside his humanity. It bubbles over when Peter bites someone for the first time, because for a moment, he was sure his venom had killed the man.
Convinced that he has no sane outlet to relieve the throbbing in his gums, Peter isolates himself. Then Frank Castle wedges his way into the situation, and suddenly, there is a... solution. It's weird. Unconventional. Peter wouldn't dare go to anyone else for something like this; he isn't even certain anyone else could handle it. So he keeps finding his way back to Frank for relief. And maybe for the company, too.
