Sam always knew the day would come when Sebastian, the last of his friends and the last of the people in his age group, would leave Pelican Town. He asked Sam to go with him, probably at least a hundred times, but Sam knows he has to stay.
Now he's facing what his 'forever' looks like, trapped in Pelican Town, dealing with his mom's inability to do anything hard or inconveniencing for herself, and working at JojaMart to make ends meet for his whole family.
What he isn't banking on is an unlikely friend stepping up from nowhere... Someone who may actually help him see his worth, his place in the world... And someone he could give those same gifts back to.

Summary
Shane's gruff exterior has always made it difficult for him to make friends. He's spent years loitering at the Stardrop Saloon, off in a corner on his own. When the new farmer moved in, he didn't think much of her; after her first year, though, she became a hot topic of conversation every weekend.
When she began spending her evenings in the saloon, having a beer or two, he found his gaze wandering from the same old floorboards, onto the once-scrawny woman who had become a toned and strong farmer. Her sun-shine demeanor brought bitterness out in him, and no matter how rude he was to her: she persisted.
(This isn't a super steamy romance, sorry smut readers :,( this is for the slow burn crowd!)

Summary
Beer swirled around the mug, ice clinking against the glass, light shifting in it like an amber kaleidoscope. Shane watched it listlessly, having fallen into a comfortable buzz. He was numbed, hardly aware of the rhythmic swirling of his wrist, nearly forgetting the cold weight that sat in the bottom of his lungs. Music and chatter echoed around him dully as he slouched against the counter. The only thing he bothered to process was the beer swirling blearily in front of him.
The sharp sound of the front door creaking open didn’t do anything to pull his attention away. His mind churned like one of those cement trucks. Slow, laborious, his thoughts smattering gravel inside his skull. Another shitty day living the shitty Joja way. Seeing the daily news over Morris’s shoulder as he used the company computer to surf the web on break… that made the daily drudgery that much more unbearable.
Someone plopped onto the barstool next to him, but Shane didn’t think to look up until a voice cut into his sluggish thoughts and a shadow fell across his drink.
“Hey, neighbor. You must be new here.”

The Farmer is the newest addition to Stardew Valley, and everyone is more than happy to get to know her, except for Shane. On her first night in the saloon, the two get into a scrap, soiling their first impressions, and putting the two on thin ice. Try as they might to avoid each other, they keep meeting, each odd and tense interaction raising more and more questions about the other's life and habits.
Magic is disappearing in the valley, something lurks at the darks edges of the horizon, and Shane and The Farmer's fates are tied together wether they like it or not. When the blackness consumes, what can they do to stand a chance against it?

Sometimes it feels incomprehensible to you that he has a whole other life with someone else just on the other side of the city. He and Julia are high school sweethearts, perfectly matched. It would be easy to hate her if you didn’t like her so damn much. She’s sweet and funny and smart, with a headful of corkscrew curls and a big, warm smile that crinkles up her nose and the corners of her eyes. She’s always smiling.
