Summary
Merlin only has to do two things; one, don't let Arthur know about the magic, and two, don't let Arthur find out about the massive inappropriate crush he has on him.
Oh yes, and also find out how to break the spell he accidentally cast on them leaving them stuck together 24/7, which makes the first two things so much harder to stick to.

Summary
Yuletide in Camelot was a complicated thing.
Merlin had grown up with simple winter traditions: small gifts left on windowsills, bread shared between neighbours, his mother humming old songs while the snow piled against the door. Ealdor’s winter had been cold, yes, but it had been kind — a quiet, honest cold that wrapped around you and sat beside you at the fire.
Camelot’s Yuletide, by contrast, was a spectacle sharpened to a shine. Crimson and gold banners layered every wall and archway, richer and heavier than usual. Courtiers drifted through the halls in velvet and fur, jewels bright at throats and wrists, their laughter ringing too loud, as if joy were something that had to be proven by volume alone.
Below, the lower town seethed with it all — stalls packed into every sheltered corner, merchants shouting over one another, the air thick with spice and smoke and roasting chestnuts. It was dazzling, overwhelming, impossible to escape.
And above it all, the castle tradition: the Gift of the Longest Night.

Summary
For a split second that lasts eons, Arthur exists in that horribly weightless space before gravity conquers, and then he's falling. Distantly, he hears Merlin cry out his name in panic, and then he’s bracing himself for impact.
An impact that never comes.
Silently hoping, begging, for anything but what he knows he’s about to see, Arthur turns his head to look.
And sees Merlin, hand outstretched, and eyes ablaze with gold.
***
Faced with the revelation of Merlin's secret and a sudden internal war between duty and sentiment, Arthur must make a decision that will affect both of their fates. And when Merlin is gravely injured, the time to make that decision rapidly dwindles. Arthur must quickly choose what matters most: the demands of the law, or those of his heart.

In his second year as King of Camelot, Arthur has legalized magic and prospered the kingdom with Merlin's guidance. But rumors spread that Arthur is just a puppet under Merlin's control. Arthur begins to doubt himself - maybe he’s depending too much on Merlin's ideas instead of his own judgment.
How can he push past expectations to rule as he chooses, including taking Merlin as his consort openly if he can’t rely on his own decisions.
To prove himself, Arthur makes a risky choice that could be the fall of Camelot. He decides to find out the hard way.
