As a general rule, a “bad day at work” gets proportionally worse the more shooting your work typically involves. There’s showing up to your office job ten minutes late because you were stuck in traffic, and then there’s tearing away from a crime scene with the law on your tail – and there’s still traffic.
There are also places a professional criminal can hope to blend in. Bookshops, for instance.
(Or, the one where Crowley is a mob hitman, Aziraphale owns a bookshop, and there’s a gang war brewing in London.)

“So,” Agent Hanlon announces. Bill does his best to pretend he hasn’t been staring as Hanlon slips the glasses off and drops them on the desk, in front of a row of binders labeled by date. “Do you believe in extraterrestrial life, Denbrough?”
Bill gapes at him.
“Okay.” Hanlon nods as if Bill had answered him and gets up to slot a handful of slides into an honest-to-god projector. “Telepathy? ESP? Bigfoot? Ghosts?”
