Summary
It had been around a year since Zanka had first taken up Jabber’s offer of an off duty fight, and following then it had become somewhat of a regular occurrence. In fact, it wouldn't have been crazy to call the two friends– kinda. But one night, Jabber decided to throw a wrench in their little routine in the strangest way possible, by bringing Zanka some random baby he had found abandoned in a polluted zone. Why had he done this? Because he was high at the time and thought it would be hilarious to see the look on the cleaner's face. Yet in the morning when he sobered up, Jabber still wanted to keep it. And for whatever reason, Zanka did too.
“Doesn’t the kid totally look like she could be our daughter! See, she’s even got your weird striped eyebrows.” If Zanka had the energy he would punch him.
Or: Two idiots impulsively adopt a baby and now have to figure out how to simultaneously raise the kid, keep her a secret, and deal with their growing feelings for each other.

“Goka!” Zanka hisses, eyes wide as he tugs on his brother’s sleeve and subtly points at the group, “Goka, who are those people?” The awe in his voice is clear.
They pass each other, Zanka leaning his head behind Goka to continue staring.Quickly, Goka grabs Zanka’s arm that holds his sleeve and pulls him forward.
“Ouch!” He cries. The sudden movement had hurt his shoulder. “Goka-”
“Those people,” Goka interrupts, voice suddenly clipped, “are Cleaners. The Hell Guard works with them sometimes. But you should avoid ‘em as much as possible.”
“Okay.” Zanka accepts easily. If Goka says someone is no good, he’s usually right.
“They’re sick in the head.” Goka grits out.

“My name is Ryland Grace. You’re on a ship called The Hail Mary. We got a distress signal and I found you floating in the blood ocean out there. You were really badly injured so we tried to patch you up.” Ryland takes a step towards him but he presses himself further against the wall, holding the needle out to try and defend himself.
“How do I know this isn’t all just a hallucination? That you’re not that monster trying to trick me again?”

While Grace & Rocky are on their way to Erid, The Mary picks up a distress signal from a nearby moon that’s surrounded by darkness. What Grace doesn’t expect to find is a human-like man named Simon floating in the moon's blood-filled ocean.

Zanka and Jabber did know eachother in the past, but after Zanka joined the cleaners they never saw each other again. Instead, their distance made them slowly forget about their relationship overtime. Slowly, they both start to recall their past and have to confront each other about it.

I really like how some of the fandom just agree that Zanka probably tortured people back when he lived with the Nijiku's and becoming a member of the Hell Guard was his life. It also just gives me a new reason to hate on his family and the Hell Guard as a whole which I also enjoy

Once he became a giver and was essentially excommunicated, he started to open up and see the world in a way he hadn’t been able to before. And when a masochistic, venom driven man catches him staring at him as if he wanted to punch his teeth down his throat and approaches him about it, he starts to realize that what he was looking for wasn’t a specific thing. It was a person. And Jabber Wonger was exactly the person he needed.

Stupid is when Zanka picked it in the first place, thinking, believing, that it was just so special and different from the rest of the weapons on that damn table. Stupid is Zanka.
Stupid, as it seems, also happens to be the idiot who drops from his perch on one of the branches, and tumbles right into Zanka.
