As Jinx is brooding through the shitty streets of the underground, the start of her pack-heat burning into her bones, she doesn't expect to suddenly get a lap full of lonely kid- lonely pup, nor does she expect the need to protect and care for the tiny thing being chased by thugs for who cares why.
Is this how Silco felt? Jinx thinks. Then stops thinking and protects the kid.
Self indulgence at it's finest because I'm upset that my girls didn't hug like a million times before episode 6.
This is my first fic, will probably be short, and I started writing this before the finale. (Oh my god that finale)

“Why?” you whispered. He hummed in thought, the amber intensity of his gaze never leaving you.
“I came to work here because I believe everyone deserves a chance,” was what he settled on. His conviction in that statement was difficult to deny.
“I stole from you,” you pointed out in breathless disbelief.
“Mmm, not quite. You attempted to steal, but you put it back, so-”
“You’re not afraid I’ll try it again? Or try to hurt you? You don’t know anything about me. Maybe I’d come back with a group, take it all,” you rambled. It wasn’t helping your case, but your mind ached to understand.
“You don’t have anyone to come back with,” he stated, matter of fact.
Your stomach turned sour. How had this fancy-living little shit just torn apart your entire night? How did he know these things? The man must have noticed whatever wince had been drawn from you by the comment, because next he soothed it by saying,
“The lonely recognize the lonely, I suppose. And you won’t hurt me.”

The sun had almost set, a ray of golden light directly illuminating her eyes. She had freckles, he noticed. There was no coming back from this, but Viktor was sure his instincts were right. He had seen her frown disappear once she’d recognized him in the library, he had felt the gentle squeeze of her hand on his bicep. He had noticed her eyes lingering on the beauty mark on his top lip.
“Is it worth it?” she asked, her smile deepening.
“Definitely.”
