Summary
“Well, we’ll just have to convince Arthur that’s not so bad, then,” Gwaine resolves. “I’m sure he can let you be a little magic, sometimes. On special occasions.”
Or, Gwaine comes back from a mission to find Camelot in chaos. He's got to fix everything by himself, as usual.

Bookmarker's Notes
Fic 1:
“They accidentally take over a castle. Well, Gwaine calls it liberating. Merlin’s not sure what to call it—there was a lord, and now there isn’t.(Kanen comes to Ealdor early, and that changes everything.)”
And:
“ You’re horrible,” Morgana hisses at him quietly enough than only he and Gwen will hear, tugging at his cloak until it sits better across his shoulders. Her face never changes from her pleasant smile. Terrifying. “Straighten your back, you will not slouch! Gwen, tell him not to slouch!”“Your Majesty,” Gwen says sweetly, “please do not slouch.”
“I highly doubt he’ll be looking at me,” Arthur drawls, “when he’s come all this way to marry you.”
(Arthur loses his father's trust, but he gains something better.)”
Basically the two sweetest fic’s I’ve ever read about Merlin accidentally becoming a king, saving Arthur along the way, and the mildest identity shenanigans until they meet up and romance the fuck outta each other

Summary
The next time Arthur doesn’t say thank you, Gwaine puts his hand on Merlin’s back, stroking down the long length of it, from the short curls of hair at the nape of his neck to the neat cinch of his waist.
“Thanks,” he praises, throwing a wink to an agape Arthur as he does. It’s wonderful.
So wonderful, in fact, that for the next fortnight, for every brusque word that spills from Arthur’s lips, Gwaine spills three sweet ones.

Summary
Navigating life events that turn his world upside down, including his ascension to the throne and a revelation that rocks him to his core, Arthur's ever-evolving relationship with Merlin becomes the most important of his life. No one ever said love was easy.
“I would die before I hurt you,” Arthur said, his voice strangled. “I would kill anyone who ever tried to do you harm and it pains me to think that you could ever fear me.”
“I don’t understand,” Merlin said breathlessly. “You’re the king, you – ”
“I’m not standing here as a king, Merlin!” Arthur shouted, his voice breaking as he did so. “I’m standing here as a man, a man who believed he knew you completely, a man who thought you were the one constant in his life, a man who thought…who thought you were his,” he finished, horrified to feel tears pricking his eyes.

Summary
“Where did you learn to do that?” Gwaine asked, following Merlin up the bank.
“This is how normal people fish,” Merlin replied dryly. “Not trying to stab them with swords.”“This is a knife,” Gwaine retorted, sounding every bit as sulky as he felt.
“Still, you didn’t catch a fish.”
------------------------------------------------------Gwaine saves a young Merlin from a beating and ends up with a new little brother to take care of on his travels.
Or, what would Merlin be like if he had Gwaine influencing him over his formative years?
