birthday" sort of fic. Borderline crack. Just having fun with this. Angst is present but only as
references to their past... keeping this as a happy end. Marijuana is consumed. Sex is had. Feelings

Though Sunny had feelings for Basil, he didn't want to risk their friendship after spending so many years repairing their relationship post-truth. So Sunny had focused instead on being a decent college roommate, and a great friend.
But all it got him was front row tickets to watching a drunk Basil get hit on by random strangers at a party.
It was funny. When they were younger, Basil had always begged Sunny not to leave him. But ever since they came to university, Sunny often felt like HE was the one being left behind by his flowerboy roommate.

Honestly, Hero thought this would be harder.
Most of the kids he’s met at the hospital are loud and obnoxious. But this kid is quiet and well behaved. Honestly, she takes after her father a lot in that way.
She does stare a lot though. Much like she’s doing now.
“What’s on your mind kiddo?” he asks, kneeling down to her level.
“Why don’t you have a wife?” she asks, tilting her head
Hero almost chokes on his spit.

Summary
Mari never died on the day of the accident. Basil had called for help, and she was left in a coma. All because of Sunny.
This was a fact his parents struggled to come to terms with. They decided they no longer wanted to continue taking care of him, and forfeited all parental rights, leaving Sunny to bounce around in the foster care system. His friends have no idea where he is and no method of contacting him.
The group was left to cope with the loss of 2 dear friends, though neither of them died. Was it really so unrealistic to think they’d see Sunny again one day? Or to think that Mari would ever wake up?

Basil deserves help. His friends’ opinions of him may be divided following Sunny's confession, but everyone agrees that he deserves help.
After being spared the legal consequences for stabbing Sunny, Basil is instead transferred to a closed ward for diagnosis and treatment. Being given a second chance when he has believed himself to be beyond saving for so long is no easy task, but he cannot squander the mercy he was granted. After all, wasn't his goal in life to always face the sun?
When he has to endure his oncoming darkness alone, he writes to Sunny in search of light.

Summary
There are days where Sunny wakes up and forgets it ever happened. He wakes up and for a brief moment, he is twelve again, and Mari is alive. He’ll keep his eyes closed, swearing he can hear her moving around their room. Other times, she’s still in bed, sleeping in, and Sunny knows that he can squeeze in beside her and hog all the blankets when he feels lonely.
But when he opens his eyes, Mari is gone, and so are her things. So is their room. When he opens his eyes, he’s in a small two bedroom bungalow in a city Mari never got to visit. A city where he just celebrated his eighteenth birthday with new friends from college – a college that Mari was studying to get into, but never got to attend.
Sunny tells the truth and goes to college. Omori follows.
