Summary
Something goes wrong. The crown is split during Narinder's defeat, splitting the power between him and the Lamb.
Narinder keeps a portion of his godhood, and the Lamb finds that abilities they had access to before are no longer possible: Healing is cut short. Powers are halved. And there is a very real chance of permadeath, as the ability to resurrect is not possible without full power, and the God of Death is not cooperative.
Afterlife and Purgatory are not options either. Dying means erasure. Gone.Lambert knows Narinder grows stronger by the day, crown or not, and yet keeps him spared as they try to figure out how to complete their own goals. Narinder vows vengeance on the lamb for usurping him. After a few unsuccessful murder attempts, he's in for the long haul. It is only a matter of time before the Lamb's guard is down before he can strike, and The One Who Waits is very patient. When a mystic being demands they save the bishops from purgatory, an alliance is in order.
Except...the lamb's actions and their presence begin to unlock abilities within the God of Death he didn't know he had prior to his imprisonment, among other fickle things, like emotions. The prophecy didn't warn him of that part.

It was most common for a god to simply see nothing while resting.
Out of the five bishops of the old faith it was Shamura was the most likely to receive these prophecies. Many trusted in Shamura’s words, they foresaw each and every one of his siblings, they prophesied the formation of the old faith, they raised each and every bishop of the old faith.
So, when Shamura voiced concerned about a prophecy they foresaw, the five bishops agreed to gathered at the temple within the silk cradle.

His gear fell from his grasp onto the train tracks as he went on with his fit of laughter over the booming voice announcing their defeat. The other team huddled in a boisterous celebration of their close win, while his teammates quickly sat down and sighed as a collective sweaty and tired mess. No one else was looking at the two—one knocked down on his rear end onto the cool tile of the train station, the other giggling maniacally at his companion’s dumbfounded expression.
Coil would usually hate being laughed at. Those who found him solely entertaining were the same people who expected nothing more than stupidity from him, the same people who wouldn’t admit their own shortsightedness even after seeing his prowess. It would usually tick him off to no end—but in this moment of pure undeniable embarrassment, the battle’s completion washing over him, and the final moments of his phinisher melting away:

The Intern sees a stranger on the sidewalk, slowly walking towards her. They look normal. Their eyes are clear, their smile not overly stretched, they aren't violently twitching… nonetheless she jogs to the other side of the street, just in case. They exchange wary glances once she's far enough away, still suspicious of one another- everyone is suspicious of each other nowadays. You can never be too careful.

It just looked too pathetic to kill, washed up on the same island as him.
Half of its body was missing, for lack of a better term; its eye was bitten out of its socket, claw and teeth marks trailed all along the left side of its body. Sizable chunks were missing from its tail and torso. Its fins were tattered, ripped through like wrapping paper.
Worst of all, the most it could do was wheeze and trill. It would never Sing again. And a siren who couldn’t Sing was as good as dead.
