“Do you think you’ll ever be remembered?” The guy says to him, suddenly. Patrick almost jumps straight out of his chair, but he thankfully doesn’t. He does practically give himself whiplash trying to turn his head to look at him, but that’s another story.
“Do you think you’ll ever be remembered?” He asks again, like he’s talking to a little kid. His lips are chapped, and his face is covered in stubble. He sounds drunk, and Patrick wishes he could be drunk.
“Like… do you think anyone will ever remember you? Nobody will ever remember me.” He says, staring at Patrick through the bars on the edge of his balcony. Brown, hopeless eyes search for something in Patrick’s baby blues, but Patrick offers nothing but a sputter and a ‘I don’t—I–“
(OR: Pete and Patrick are neighbors and they meet one night when they're both on their balconies. And then they meet again, and again, and again. Sometimes on their balconies... but sometimes not. I asked the amazing objectlesson what to write for this prompt, and she said: "Pete is an ethical slut who struggles with the ethical part and Patrick is an unethical non-slut who wants her but thinks she can't have her because she's not slutty enough, and then they go to a gay club on Britney night, and Patrick has a fake ID, and there are Jello shots." So that's what I did. She's not even in this fandom and she basically wrote the whole story. Also, it's a genderswap AU.

Because... well, Pete and Patrick were always denying their totally real and totally obvious relationship, the two teenagers from the music store next door, Brendon and Hayley, were always annoying them, and Travie was always leaving his niece in there to hang out as he painted outside. But things were a lot more normal before Tyler Joseph walked in one day at closing time, with a Donnie Darko looking kind of hoodie and frazzled eyes, asking for a single line around his wrist.

Summary
Lyrics shoved into bottles keep showing up in the ocean, and Patrick can't help but sing them once he reads them. It's not helped by the fact that he feels sorry for the human that writes them and throws them into the ocean nearly everyday. So when the lyrics start to come less frequently, Patrick begins to worry. What could have happened to this human named "Pete"? A suicide letter and a rescue mission later, and Patrick is willing to do anything to help this human.
A cursed bottle is all he needs, and the trade for his siren voice for a pair of human legs is struck. Too bad he failed to listen to all of the rules before making his deal.

Summary
For the longest time, nothing had shown up on Patrick’s skin. He had wondered if he was the only person in the world without a soulmate, or if his soulmate had an ink allergy [it had happened once or twice in recent memory], or if his soulmate didn’t have anything to say. He felt lonely, especially as he watched others’ skin be colored and marked with the loveliest things.
But one crisp November day…it had started. At first it was just words that didn’t seem to go together. But eventually it had coalesced into…snatches of poetry? Lyrics? Patrick didn’t know…but he started to realize that they were incomplete. That they were pieces that didn’t fit together, but that all belonged to the same puzzle. They had an uncanny beauty, however; a fractured honesty that he admired. Whoever his soulmate was…he or she definitely looked at the world in a different way.
OR a soulmate AU where whatever you write on your skin also shows up on your soulmate's.

It was a universally acknowledged truth that there just weren’t enough musical employment opportunities in the world for the graduated, finished and pedigreed artists and musicians. That meant there were even less for the students who were still gestating in the womb of the university. So when the advertisement had been placed for someone to come play piano three nights a week for Ballet 206…he had jumped on it. Something that wasn’t wiping trays at the cafeteria or cleaning the auditorium after meetings and actually had anything to do with music was amazing.
Basically, an AU where Pete is a dance major and Patrick is a music major at college. They meet...there are eventual sparks...you get the drift ;)
