Summary
Abyss is over. Bacon didn’t expect it to mean that the Void Ponies were over too, but after Jumper’s betrayal. And the fact that Pentar wanted to leave also. There’s just no way for them to prance through this one.
So it’s almost back to how it was in the beginning, just him and Mapicc against the world. They make a good team, Mapicc as the brawn, Bacon the brains. Together they stood on steady ground in the turmoil of Lifesteal.
And of course, Bacon had Zam now too. A heart to complete he and Mapicc’s dynamic duo. It was nice to work with Zam, he seemed reliable. Mapicc was hesitant to trust him again, but after they got over that, all three of them had been an amazing team. And will continue to be a fucking amazing team.

Summary
Hermit’s Hollow was a quiet town where you learned to ignore whisperings of nonsense and the dull, persistent feeling of being watched before you learned to ride a bike. To call it pedestrian would be a great disservice to all the terrible oddities occupying it— folks and legends alike.
Not that Grian believed any of them, of course.
Or; There's something wrong in Hermit's Hollow. There's something wrong with Grian. Neither of these are a surprise to him.

Summary
Prince Scar was always going to die, and perhaps it should’ve been obvious that if Grian swore to be by his side until that moment, he’d have to be complicit in his death. Grian wanted victory, he wanted crowds cheering his name, the riches, the fame, he wanted it all because he thought it’d make him happy. It will, if he can ever forget how Scar smiles when he knows he’s going to die. Scar is already burning to ash in front of him and they haven’t even said goodbye yet.
They both know they’re standing on a grave. They both know Grian isn’t going to play the gracious hero, plead morals over greed- he’s not going to be the bigger man.
Perhaps even more painful than the fact that Scar was always going to die, was that Grian was always going to be the one to kill him.

Or, Grian is a general entrusted to help Prince Scar lead his troops through the war because, as he learns, the man is an utter fool who doesn’t even know how to wield a sword.
By the time the war is over, Grian thinks he might be a fool as well.

“Let’s put you undercover Triple-Seven. And make it convincing.”

Scar’s never known the avian to be anything but confident, calm, and calculated. But now he’s frightened, swinging a sword around haphazardly as a last-ditch attempt to stay alive, and all it will take is one wrong move or one perfect shot from a pillager, and he’ll die.
And in a way, Scar is terrified too, because he’s never been able to land a shot on the avian before, or get close enough to do any damage, but whatever got to him first did much more than just a little prick from an arrow. Pillagers are scary in their own right, but Scar has a feeling that it wasn’t just pillagers or ravagers that did this.
Something is very wrong.
or, Scar saves the city’s most dangerous criminal, makes him his roommate, falls in love with him, and then also saves the world with him. In that order, with various setbacks along the way.

When Grian was informed that he would be given a bodyguard for his journey to the Rift he was… well let’s just say displeased would be putting it mildly.
Unsurprisingly, nobody in his family would listen to his very reasonable objections.
“Grian, mate,” Mumbo had said exasperatedly in response to his complaints. “It’s not a personal insult to your abilities. It’s just a matter of national security, you know? Think of it like… extra insurance.”
“More like extra annoying insurance,” Grian had grumbled.
“Oi, stop being a pain,” Mumbo had said, grabbing Grian in a headlock and rustling his hair. “Besides, every bodyguard I’ve ever had has been quite boring. You probably won't even notice they’re there.”
Christ, Grian wished Mumbo had been right.

Until he meets Scar, who just so happened to take the last seat. At Grian's table. And maybe, just maybe, Grian develops a crush instantly.
Chaos ensues, with a lot of flirting, angst and just two fools being cute.

"No." He said, honestly, and Scar pouted a little.
"But you're such a fun character!" They passed by guards- some of whom Scar was smiling at, and greeting, without any trace of something sinister, and in turn, the guards smiled and waved back- as if it was normal, even despite the fact that he was human.
They didn't even notice the cuffs that were still on Scar's wrists.
