Summary
As Lucifer walked across the room towards the Detective's desk, he noticed that the figure sitting there was definitely not the Detective. The figure was quite a bit smaller, and much more inclined to sticky hands and impulsive hugs. She, however, didn't seem to notice him and was rather subdued. He thought it was strange to see her so unlike her usually happy and (unfortunately for him) clingy self. So much so, in fact, that he found himself making his way over to her and asking (without thinking or really even being conscious of the act), "What's wrong, child?"
Beatrice Decker jumped and tried to smile at him when she realized who had approached her. "Hi, Lucifer..." she said instead of answering his question.
"Yes," he replied absently, trying to think about anything else but the child in front of him (he couldn't). He watched as she looked down at the table; she didn't even try to hug him as she usually did. "Spawn," he called to get her attention. When she looked up at him, he found himself kneeling down to her level. "What's the matter, darling?" he asked, his voice gentle and soft (so unusual when applied anyone who wasn't his Detective).

Summary
The people of Riverdale continue to live within a war between the Northside and the Southside of their small town as Hiram Lodge schemes and plots to take over Riverdale in every capacity possible, all in an effort to build a legacy that will make his enemies cower.
Meanwhile, with Archie in prison and Hiram's henchmen making it their job to clear the town of anyone who opposes Hiram's plans, Veronica works alongside Jughead and the other Serpents to build up enough resources to take down her father once and for all.
But the civil war of Riverdale isn't the only battle being fought. A war within the hearts of Jughead and Veronica begins to brew as well, leading to something neither one ever imagined could happen, but knowing that the outcome could be catastrophic for them both...

Jughead rolled his eyes.
“I don’t know about Archie, but I don’t think Betty is dumb enough to fall for such a transparent attempt to get her to notice me. Why are you so confident that this will work?”
Veronica grinned.
“Because I think Archie likes me, and I think Betty likes you, but they just don’t know it until they see that we’re desired by someone else. Come on, Jug. It will be the kind of social experiment you fucking live for!”
Jughead sighed. He still didn’t think Veronica made a strong enough argument, but he was willing to give it a shot. He’d been subtly trying for the past 3 months to get Betty to see him as more than just a good buddy to talk journalism and writing styles with. He needed to up his game, and maybe Veronica was the one to help him do it.
