The man apparently hadn’t noticed his arrival in the beginning, since he was looking curiously at Tubbo when Dream finally broke out of his stupor. When he did notice the arrival of a customer, he turned his head towards Dream, and then the blond man was sent into another round of staring, this time into deep ruby eyes. He was sure his face must’ve been as pink as the man’s hair, and his jaw was probably on the floor, but can you blame him? The man in front of him was a collection of everything he found attractive in someone, and it’s not every day he sees someone with pink hair.
Then, the employee opened his mouth.
And Dream promptly swooned.
“Welcome to The Anarchist's Cookie, how can I help you today?” A deep, baritone voice sounded throughout the cafe, completely the opposite of what one might expect from somebody with pink hair. Dream was surely looking stupid now, his mouth dropped open due to everything about this man in front of him, but he really didn't care.
Or: Techno works in a bakery and Dream goes in one too many times to be considered casual; oh, and Tubbo, a three year old, orchestrated the whole thing

“Hey, have you ever wanted to be a pirate?”
When Ranboo had answered that question, which was delivered by an excited Tubboーhis friend of a whole two days, though it felt like two years with how close they had gottenー, he didn’t expect much to come from it. Every child in the village has entertained the idea of becoming a pirate at least once, and Ranboo is no different, but he can’t say he was ever too intrigued by the idea. He would rather live in his tiny little village with his less-than-satisfactory parents and no friends (besides Tubbo) if it means that he stays far, far away from the ocean and everything in it.
But, of course, since he's been cursed since the day he was born, his wish didn’t come true.
Now, he was being dragged behind a sprinting Tubbo, fire consuming the town and everything in it behind them, without an end in sightーwell, Tubbo might know where they’re going, but Ranboo has a nagging feeling that they’re just running to get away, not to go towards something.
… Great.
Or: Ranboo unwillingly becomes a pirate, makes a couple of friends, and decides that maybe it was all worth it in the end

The answer was immediate, and Dream laughed bitterly. He knew Techno was going to say that. They both know each other’s boundaries like the back of their hands, both of them memorizing what topics to never bring up to avoid either of them legitimately getting their feelings hurt. Techno never brings up Dream’s mask, his mom or uncle, or Tubbo; Dream never brings up Techno’s voices, the long, cape-like jacket he wears almost constantly, or his family. “George said it was weird.”

Dream was curled on the dungeon floor, folded in on himself. His golden hair had gone dull with grime, and his sheep ears were pressed flat to his skull as if he could make himself smaller by force of will. The chains around his wrists looked too big on him now. Too heavy.
"Dream!" Technoblade darkened with fury, and he rushed to his prisoner's side. Gently, he lifted Dream, cradling the weakened man to his chest. His jaw clenched with fury, but he managed to bite out the words. "Dream, who did this to you?"
OR:
When his kingdom's knights finally manage to capture Dream - a notorious thief and Techno's childhood best friend - Techno makes a plan: avoid the dungeon, avoid the inevitable execution, avoid thinking about it at all.
Unfortunately, one of Techno’s guards has a plan too.

“I love you.” The boy said. Flushed cheeks, eyes sparkling with hope, fingers fiddling, and heart racing.
The boy never imagined himself to be in this situation ever but here he was, heart poured over the man in front of him. He was never the man to take things seriously, or to even be as honest as to confess his feelings but again, here he was.
He heard a breath hitch, followed by a slow and gradually getting louder laugh. He watched as the man’s expression went from shock, eyebrows raised and mouth gapes small, into eyes squinting and brows knotting, confusion, and finally to still squinting eyes but with the corners of the mouth curled upwards, he’s not sure what this is. Mocking? Happiness?
“Ok, great joke, Dream. I would’ve appreciated it more if you said Happy Birthday first before trolling me.” The man in front of Dream said, followed by a: “Happy April Fools, by the way.”
