Lately, Cloud's night time hallucinations have been becoming more frequent and more unsettling. Plagued by strange dreams and an increasing apprehension that there might be something more going on - something sinister that lies just beyond his grasp. Cloud fears his own mind might be slowly slipping from him and no one seems to be willing to give him any answers, least of all the man who keeps insisting on playing the main part in Cloud's nightly torment.

Summary
Jayce convinces Viktor to come to a Council event, despite Viktor's misgivings. When it goes south, Jayce gets maybe too defensive.
"Where did you say you were from?" some council-adjacent businessman said, seemingly out of nowhere. "I haven't heard your particular accent in Piltover before."
"That isn't really relevant—" Jayce started.
"The Undercity," Viktor spoke over him, his tone flat.
"I see!" the man exclaimed, with faux surprise. Viktor glared at him, but popped a bite of food in his mouth to keep from saying anything else. Whether the man noticed Viktor's seething or not, he continued, "I didn't realise the Academy gave pity scholarships."
Viktor almost choked. Jayce narrowed his eyes, one hand balling into a fist under the table.

Summary
It begins with late-night work and a drunken confession. Viktor is used to the hum of machinery and the clarity of blueprints, not the messy weight of feelings. Especially when those feelings come to him in the form of his drunken partner venturing into the lab after a party Viktor politely declined his invitation to. Jayce, bold even when unsteady on his feet, breaks through the careful walls Viktor has built with a simple, if not slightly slurred truth: “I love you.”
But words are easy, and Viktor has always been better at resisting than believing. As dawn breaks, he's faced with a choice: cling to the certainty of solitude or risk everything for the steady warmth of Jayce’s arms.

When the rune consumed them both and Viktor and Jayce avoided the end of the world, it didn't destroy itself, it didn't kill them. It spat them out elsewhere.
