Summary
Shane and Ilya just want to tell the world about their relationship, on their own terms. If only anyone would actually believe them.
Or: the closet is reinforced steel, apparently.
"I think we tried too hard," Ilya says from the opposite end of the couch, probably scrolling through the same articles as Shane. "Was easier to keep secret than we thought. I could have kissed you on center ice, and everyone would say aww, I love their…what is word again?"
"Bromance?"
"Yes. That."

Summary
Six months ago, Shane’s intimate conversation and break-up with Rose Landry was recorded and leaked. In those six months, his life had completely upended and everything had changed, for better or for worse. Except for Ilya. He still has Ilya, and he’s beginning to understand that he always will.
It’s 2018. Shane Hollander has to figure out his new life, in a new city, on a new team, while being out to the world but not by his own choice. Ilya, along for the ride, also has to learn what it means to be connected to a place, to a person, and to his own inner truth.

Troy took a deep breath. “Just wait a sec.” Roz shifted on his feet but stayed where he was. “You really did something for me tonight and I don’t want it to end with you running away, back into the closet.”
Follows (and adds on to) events from both Role Model and the Long Game if Ilya confirmed Troy's suspicions after they went to the Kingfisher. How might having someone to confide in helped both of them? (The story remains largely the same. I'm just exploring the community angle of it all)

Summary
It had been four years.
Enough time to grow back the wavy brown hair the Marines shaved off.
Enough time to leave his mother’s house once he turned eighteen.
Cameron Cope thought he’d left the Marines behind —and all the politics that came with it— when he traded New Orleans for bartending at a gay bar in New Jersey. But when his former bully turned confidant, Slovacek, shows up unannounced, one impulsive night together sends everything spiraling... Just as Ray, his lifelong best friend, arrives on his doorstep in crisis.
A drunken kiss leads to a furious walk out into the cold New York City night— and that’s when Cam sees him. Sergeant Sullivan. Alive. Real. The man who once made him believe he was worth saving.
Now caught between three men, each representing a different part of his life —passion, guilt, and redemption— Cam is pulled into a web of military secrets, new dangers, and the kind of love that destroys just as much as it heals.
---
Or: Cam's mom never signed the waiver to allow him to remain in the Marines, so he runs away from it all with the hope of never looking back.Bookmarked by Ordalya

He certainly could be serving cunt more, but he took it upon himself to step in DI Sullivan’s shoes to either deter baby gay Marines, or help them survive if he couldn’t accomplish the former. Visiting home on New Year’s Day, 2000, his car breaks down, and help comes in the form of none other than the aforementioned Sullivan. Both are older, both are wiser, both equally lonely and floundering in life. Thus, things get… complicated.

Summary
Six years after joining the US Marine Corps, Cope has built a life around discipline, duty and silence. Once a combat Marine, Cope becomes a Drill Instructor to move closer to his best friend's family. He has become everything the Corps expects of him: unyielding, efficient, untouchable. But behind the composure lies a broken man, weighed down by the ghosts of his past and the secrets he keeps.
He's survived combat, he's buried friends, he's been broken down into pieces and put back together, each time a new piece missing. He mourns the life that is, and the life that could have been. He mourns the blue eyes that haunt his dreams, the strong arms that provide a safe haven in the deepest corners of his mind. He trains, sleeps, eats on autopilot, keeping his mold from cracking by gluing it together every night. He is fiercely loyal to his brothers in arms, a pillar when someone needs a place to rest.
And, through it all, there is of course, Liam.

What if things went a little differently after the tunnels? Maybe Steve was included in a few more Party events. Maybe he enjoyed them. Maybe one of those was D&D. Maybe he made friends with someone his age who also happened to like D&D.

Summary
Bitty is a southern man, and therefore he knows guns. And, as it turns out, Bitty can SHOOT. His accuracy is incredible enough to almost make his daddy cry, and *almost* enough to make up for all the rest of the things that fuel his childhood bullies' aggressions.
But only almost.
And so he chooses a northern college, far from home - rural enough to feel familiar, but liberal enough that he doesn’t have to be so afraid anymore. Going to the woods on the weekends with the rifle he keeps in storage, shooting for targets until his fingers are numb, helps him with the lingering homesickness.
He didn’t expect to be seen. He never expected to have his name shoved in front of the school biathlon coach, who has his hands full of great skiers but not so many crack-shots.
His folks hadn’t been sure about sending their boy into Yankee territory, but when they hear he could get his degree for free just for firing a gun? They’re on board. But Bitty’s not sure about this whole skiing thing, especially when the team captain is scowling at him harder every time he falls.

Summary
When the Aces acquired Jeff in a trade, the GM's press release described him as "responsible."
It took Jeff awhile to realize the Aces had already planned to draft Parse, and the GM was stacking his roster with role models to make sure his first round pick didn't implode in Vegas before Parse matured enough to be trusted.
But Parse was sharp. He knew what people'd been saying about him since Juniors. Parse probably figured out why the GM signed Jeff long before they met.
The one where Swoops first met Parse and Scraps, where Parse is both a literal charmer and Has A Type, and Swoops begins the first of so, so many regrets about his life and his choices re: one Kent Parson only obviously not enough to actually like, change them.
Less regrets about Scraps though, so there's that?

Summary
Kent is stunned. He’s aware that he’s leaning over the boards like an idiot, but he feels like he just got rocked by a huge hit. This is Gabriel López. The Gabriel López. The one whose career Kent had followed in Juniors. The one who set records that not even he or Zimms could break.
“López,” Kent says heavily, because he also remembers being told that Gabriel stopped playing hockey after a horrific car accident. He can’t stop his eyes from roving over Gabriel, looking for any sign of injury, which is stupid because any kind of accident would’ve taken place over ten years ago, and he’s wearing his coaching outfit of a tracksuit with the Scorpions logo.
Or the one where Kent reunites with a familiar face, becomes the unofficial mascot of a peewee hockey team, and finds love, but maybe not in that order.

Summary
‘Bits… You’ve got something from USA Hockey…’
‘Who?’ Bitty drizzled vinaigrette over the salad.
He held the envelope in front of Bitty’s face, shaking it a little to give it emphasis. ‘USA Hockey.’ He tapped his finger next to the logo.
Bitty chuckled and turned to the oven. ‘It’s not real. I’ll bet Shitty’s chirping me.’ He bent and opened the oven door, emerging with a baking tray full of chicken and cauliflower. ‘What would USA Hockey want with me?’
‘Mind if I open it, bud?’
Bitty waved an absentminded hand at him, arranging chicken on a platter with the other. ‘Go ahead.’
Jack went to his desk and picked up the letter opener and slit the envelope open. He pulled out a sheet of paper and scanned it. ‘I don’t think this is Shitty chirping.’
