Once at the head Scott grabbed a nice handful of Avid's hair and slammed his face into the table, rattling his goblet. “Friends, this man is the figurehead of a rebellion that I have just snuffed out. About ten men and women have been disposed of for their treason and more being hunted down as we speak. Today we are celebrating the death of this rebellion!”
Avid growled beneath him, trying to break from his hold and failing miserably, “You haven't broken us. My death will only bring more unrest–”
“Death?” Scott asked, pretending to be surprised as he bent down over Avid, lips to his ear, “Now, who said anything about me killing you?”

Scott has been dealing with rebellion attempts for centuries, though nothing had ever come close to felling him. He's been keeping a sharper eye since those mages had tried to put him to sleep, their failure making him wise to human adaptability. Now a new rebellion is being stomped out and their leader is nothing more than an angry boy. He thinks he has just the plan for him.

He pulled off, eyes half lidded as he brushed the blood from the bite with his thumb, sucking it off as he stepped away. Legs stumbled back a step and Owen gently took an arm, settling him down in the grass. “You’re fine. You’re fine. You’ll be a bit woozy maybe but– uh–”
His eyes travelled down to the bite mark, which as far as he knew should have been nothing more than two pinpricks amongst pale skin. There was a Mark there—orange blossoms in the colors of a setting sun, slightly stained with smeared blood—that had not been there before.

The insulation packed around him had only kept the space warm for a few hours and he's already gone through the two spare tea light candles he had—nothing more than blackened metal trays and the ashy remains of a wick.
He had to find some way to get properly warm, and he had to do it quickly.

“Scott! Problem! Problem!” BigB called, though it clear he was trying to keep his voice down. Scott startled as he looked back over the shelf, seeing BigB on his stomach looking under the door. BigB scrambled up and away from the crack and stared up at Scott, “Pearl incoming! Get down!”
Scott’s eyes widened and he reached to slip down his hook. BigB, for all intents and purposes, looked like he was planning on waiting for him to get down before hiding himself. That wasn’t going to work. Scott could hear Pearl’s footsteps, what would usually be the quiet padding of a socked human was suddenly loud in their ears as she approached— Scratch that, he could hear the door handle turning. They were long out of time.
They were out of time and BigB was still in view.

BigB starts them off with a couple strums of his guitar and quickly gets into the rhythm of the song. His hands are moving along the strings, each finger deft and nimble, reaching and pressing each cord with practiced ease. The music fills the space quickly and Etho isn’t far after on the drums, soft taps at first before getting into the rhythm of the song and it’s sound taking up just as much space as the guitar is. Martyn counts the beats and then it’s his turn, hands on the microphone.
Energy is coursing through him, the bottom of his toes to the tips of his ears. It feels like there’s a light inside of his core and the only thing letting it shine is the music. It’s in him. It’s in the room. It’s between him and Etho and BigB, like a shining rainbow of connection between the three of them. It’s their souls firing together in a way that’s familiar and yet foreign. A feeling he hadn’t felt in weeks. It is a testament to their work. It’s a proof of concept.
(Or, Martyn is an angsty teenager that formed a band with Etho and BigB to win the High School Battle of the Bands, Ren is their dog mascot, and someone is keeping a pretty big secret.)
