Summary

“Hm?” He paused, mouth full of pulled pork. Zelda wasn't looking at him.
“About what I'd say if I ever met my past self. I know I said I wasn't sure, but I – I thought about it a lot, you know, when I was in the past. I – I often had the thought that maybe, if I figured out a way to go forward in time again, I could... make a stop by our past. You know.”
He swallowed the pork. “Change it.”

After two apocalypses, Hyrule is settling into a new norm. Its people, brave and defiant, have survived it all. But of them, very, very few remember the way it used to be.
Link isn't one of them. He doesn't want to go back. He loves Hyrule as it is now, broken cloud barrier and all. Besides, they've already learned their lesson. Time travel does not change the past, regardless of the strange dreams of the neo-champions. He doesn't even know enough to decide if it was a world he liked.
Then, he recalls.
And he's always been one to fight losing battles.

It leaves him feeling... lonely. Aimless, directionless.So he is sent off to seek his dreams from the prestigious Cang Qiong Mountain Sect. With the gleaming promise of swords and songs among the clouds, it sounds almost like a dream.
But first, he has to get there.

“Jiang Cheng!” Wei Ying is shouting, but it’s Lan Zhan’s voice and closing his eyes doesn’t help. He can still hear what sounds like himself, if a little higher-pitched and a lot more frantic, calling, “Am I dead? Are we dead? What about you, are you okay? What’s going on?”
“What’s wrong with you,” Jiang Wanyin snaps, his sword shining clean and unmarred by the death of his parents’ killers. He seems remarkably settled, like all of the rage in him has suddenly turned molten instead of roaring as he strides toward them. “Wei Wuxian, fix your boyfriend and let’s go.”
“Aha,” Wei Ying says, and for a second Jiang Wanyin’s eyes flicker between them like he knows. “Here’s the thing, I’d like to, but he’s in my body? So that’s gonna be, ah, probably a lot harder than you’d think, actually.”

Playing weak has a lot of benefits, especially when it lets him slip from scrutiny while working with mafioso. Skull's hands have been drenched in blood by the mafia far longer than the Arcobaleno know him.
And he's set on keeping it that way.
He's been burnt by the mafia far too many times.
Harmony? Bonds? Please. How can you form bonds when it's all pretend?

Unfortunately for Skull, Colonnello runs therapy sessions like military drills, Reborn can and will shoot till things go his way, Viper's deadset on wringing him financially dry, Fon bent on teaching him how to properly appreciate tea, Lal's grip is iron-clad, Verde's new science church is oddly skull-shaped, and Luce just wants to finish her mission and save the world. Permanently.
Perhaps the fool is really Skull, for thinking the Arcobaleno will let him go after all their years together.
