Hannibal stood in the middle, a slice of black walking on the surface. He rose up and dropped the leaves in the bag. “I would enjoy having you for Thanksgiving this evening,” he called back.
“Having or hosting?”
Will had pulled a smile out of him for the second time that night. It snuck up on his reptilian profile even as Hannibal was turned away, adjusting the level of leaves in the bag. “I don’t catch your meaning.”
The boys rake leaves and have a very tense Thanksgiving dinner. **Takes place in the middle of season 2**

("the rest would have you six feet deep" is still ongoing! i haven't given it up. this is simply a different version of the post-fall time period where i've made the opposite choices i made in "six feet." i hope you enjoy this one too.)

chaparral_crown and i have been embarking on brevity and decided to do a "write shorter things in july 2022" prompt fest: writing 500 words or less a day based on a prompt word. tei is also doing this fest so please go check her fics out too!
aestivation is NOT a collection of individual fics. it's a continuous story where each short chapter is rooted in the prompt word of the day. there is an overarching story here and plot, so i wouldn't recommend reading out of order as things won't make sense.

When Will wakes up in a hospice in Cuba, he does not know his name, how he got there or what kind of a life he'd had. He only has the rude man from the hospice to help him navigate this new existence, and that man is extremely rude. Until he isn't.
OR: Hannibal believes that memories alone make a person, and Will proves that he does not need memories to remember.

He refused entry to any visitors apart from Abigail, who sat long haired and gaunt by his side as he tried to piece together the reality of his betrayal. Unwinding his brain from the high temples of Hannibal’s office; revisiting their final meeting from all angles, and coming up short every time.

Or, in which the following prompt took on a life of its own: I want to see Will getting out of the shower with only a towel around his waist and trying to walk carefully to his bedroom. As he’s turning the corner, he walks straight into Hannibal and gets Hannibal’s outfit wet. Hannibal is stunned at first, but then gets lost at the sight of Will in a towel, admiring every inch of his body. Will blushes at first, but then he apologizes for the accident and walks inside his room closing the door behind him, leaving a damp, confused and aroused Hannibal in the hallway.

Summary
Will doesn't leave Hannibal's dinner party for his date with the Chesapeake Ripper. As a result, Hannibal alerts Will of his encephalitis that night and uses Will's recovery to explore his curiosity about friendship-- and what makes Will Graham fascinating. Hannibal's growing affinity for Will compels him to use a somewhat softer approach to influencing the man than he had originally planned, and Will isn't impervious to becoming the object of someone's affection after a lifetime of self-imposed social isolation.
TL;DR: S1 goes in a much fluffier direction as of "Sorbet." Will is Will. Hannibal is Hannibal, just a smidge closer to the man we know and love by the end of S3.
