“I can finally see you.” Giyuu spoke finally. His blue eyes glowed in the moonlight. His smile broke through the veil he hid behind. “Sanemi…It feels like I’m finally meeting you. All of you. The real you.”
Sanemi took a breath and it seemed to have caught in his throat. Almost as if he had been holding it. He looked embarrassed. A faint tint of red appeared on his face. Giyuu grew more and more aware that they were as close as they have ever been.
“And?” Sanemi asked quietly. Giyuu could sense the Wind Hashira starting to withdraw. Almost like an animal deciding whether to flee or to fight. “...aren’t you terrified of the demon you see?”....
For a moment. Even for a moment. Sanemi didn’t even seem to think that there was at least sanctuary for weary souls like his. He needed rest. Giyuu slowly drew Sanemi closer. “Because loving someone means you’re alive and you’re human. Not a demon... I’d rather have loved someone for who they are…and not waste a single day wishing I had done something about it sooner.”
One-Shot. Canon-divergent. Some canon. Sanegiyuu.

Sanemi’s rough fingers glide across Genya’s threads of hair with the work of a seamstress, separating sections to gently corse through with a wooden brush, using nothing less than the upmost care and delicacy.
A vivid memory sits timidly in the back corners of Genya’s mind. His beloved brother, using those same fingers to wipe soot and muck off of Genya’s pudgy cheeks The same fingers that jammed right through Genya’s eye sockets and tore out any slim chance of bringing worth to his meaningless waste of a corpse. Any hopes of protecting those he cares for, defeating the one that ripped his beloved family away in cold blood, gunned away in an instant.

He couldn’t handle the way his body silently begged for Sanemi to move, to fuck please finally fuck him with each twitch of his hips. The debauchery of it all was only amplified by the way hands were twisted in Sanemi’s hair, unsteady in his perch on the other’s lap, the action only spreading him further, not only for his partner, but for his own watery gaze.
Sanemi had insisted, demanded, telling Giyuu how he needed him to see himself the way he did.

“Giyuu?” Urokodaki’s gruff voice comes from beside him as the elderly man crouches on his knees to take a look at him. “What’s wrong?” He asks carefully.
“Hurts,” is all Giyuu can say, because it does. It hurts a lot, even more so as Urokdaki prods at the red mark over his nose.
And then he doubled over in pain as sharp jolts of mysterious agony erupt across his body.
They come once or twice at a time, and Giyuu shuffles out of his kimono to look at his bare torso. There’s tiny red marks appearing everywhere, fresh, like someone dug their nails across his skin and leaving claw marks in their wake.
In which soulmates are defined by marks that never stay, but the feeling runs deep.
