It hadn’t been the most exciting day of his life (living with Lilia raised some rough competition there), but it was certainly up there. He could, clear as day, remember the feeling of the adrenaline in his veins and the sweat running down his back as his name was called, the excitement and dread and joy of it all, he’d struggled to fall asleep that night after.
And even despite his sleepless night, he was still up bright and early the next morning, and had what Lilia, who was used to his almost boundless energy, had called a ‘pep in his step’ as he headed off to class. Ready to start his school life, and eager to not miss a single moment.

Shinei has never said anything of note to him. Nothing negative about the things he liked, nothing positive. It just… is.
Perhaps a part of it is Akito's fault. He's not the most open with his family after all, but even when he was into soccer, Shinei never went to any games. He didn't say anything about the bruises on Akito's shins or the grass stains on his hands and knees. Nothing about the first place and even second place ribbons he brought home. Nothing.
Akito doesn't know if Shinei considered singing art. If he did, would he criticize Akito the way he did Ena? If his dad found out about the murals and spray paintings he did in his free time, what would he say? Would he say anything at all?
