Summary
Tommy sat on his bed, staring at the wall opposite him.
He should have gotten up by now; he should be moving to get ready for school, but he couldn’t bring himself to move. It just wasn’t worth it – every day was the same monotonous cycle of waking up; trudging through school and being reminded of his failing grades; going home and going to sleep.
He rarely saw his father, sitting by himself at the desolate table, staring at the three empty chairs that the echoes of lost laughter still clung to. Memories of a family he once had trailed him everywhere he went, constantly nagging at his heels and reminding him that he would never again know the people who once cared about him. Broken promises and forgotten deals clung to his rotting flesh that decayed more the longer he was alone.
OR: the obligatory accidentally neglectful SBI story inspired by Ours Poetica with found family and eventual healing. Nothing special to see here.

Grian, who wanted nothing more than to forget his Watcher past, was quite happy not to be worshipped at all. So when the Hermits collectively started praying to Xelqua and Grian started to gain a lot of Watcher magic, it put a real damper on his mood, health, self-perception and his relationships. With Mumbo gone off-world, it was now up to Scar, Pearl and Xisuma to worry about him – if Grian would let them. But Grian was nothing if not stubborn. He’d get through this alone, right?

Summary
Even though the hermits and their friends normally like meeting new people, this time is… different. Grian isn’t like them, he’s one of the beings that has them trapped in this horrible game. They don’t know why he’s trapped with them, all they know is that while some of them want to get to know him, the others want to keep as much distance as possible between them.
As some of them get to know the newcomer, secrets are unraveled and it’s revealed he may have more of a connection to them than he’s letting on.
These are the stories of Grian and Scar’s adventures in third life, following as Grian opens up for possibly the first time in years
Maybe the journey continues afterwards as well, if Grian manages to escape his oppressors and free himself from the cage he’s been locked in, physically and emotionally.
