Mumbo doesn’t say anything for a moment, and Grian doesn’t look at him - until a hand gently clasps over his shoulder. “Things do change,” he starts. “We’re both growing as people, Grian, and you’re dealing with memory loss and the things the Watchers have done with you. And it’s not always going to be easy.”
“Comforting,” he mutters, and the hand tightens ever so slightly - not painfully so, just added pressure.
“It doesn’t mean it’s going to change for the worse, mate.” Mumbo squeezes his shoulder once more, before letting go.
Or: Grian and Mumbo have finally been reunited after being torn apart - but they have a lot to learn after almost three years of being separated, and Grian has to figure out just where his place is among the Hermits.

Summary
Even long after the things that occurred at Yandere, Grian's past still haunts him. Nobody can understand why the hermit seems so happy and cheerful and chaotic at one point and flinch away from eye contact the other. The piece they're missing is that if there's one thing Sam taught him it's how to be somebody he's not. Doc is more worried than most. His past taught him how to see through other's deceptions. And he can see it every time Grian tells somebody that he's fine.

Watchers and Voidwalkers have a complicated history. Well. Not so complicated. Watchers simply nearly caused Voidwalker's extinction and locked what was left of them in golden cages. Grian had been free from the watchers, going on years free from their horrid powers and control. Months since he had even felt the pull of their powers, trying to turn him back.
With the stress of the moon crash on the horizon, threatening to take down the server and all of its inhabitants within seconds, his urges to protect come out. On a morning like any other, Grian begins to blank out, becoming more and more forgetful.

One Hermit, however, can recall his past in immense detail and would really appreciate it if he could be one of the ones that forgets it at some point. Unfortunately, with the way life has kicked him down over and over again, it wasn't going to let him off that easily.

With the Admin's of the MCC server hellbent on punishing Dream for locking Tommy's Moobloom code it's up to Grian, Xisuma, and Mumbo to keep the kid protected during the championship.
There's one problem, Dream is hellbent on killing the thorn in his side, his motives sparked by pure blind insanity.
Well, the other Admins can't have that, and neither can the Watchers.

It was a sound like a crackle of fireworks that opened to an exploding boom. The night sky lit up momentarily, turning brighter -almost ethereal with swirling clouds-, the stars multiplied within a single second before bursting into nothingness and leaving the sky dark. Dream cursed under his breath.
There was light. No, many lights! Vibrant green spikes of light that raced to space against time itself and faded into deep, elusive magentas and dark reds. The colors danced over their heads, spreading in patters like that of the sand of the sea floor over the landscape.
An aurora borealis had appeared.

Reaching up to ruffle his hair, Tommy froze as he looked at the reflection of his forearm in the foggy mirror. Slowly, he lowered his hand, staring at the faintly glowing mark there.
Oh right. The 16th birthday soulmate thing.
Inked on his forearm was a small compass. Its red needle swung around lazily, before settling on South-East. His eyes travelled downward, taking in the blank under the figure.
When one turned 16, a compass appeared on their left forearm. It would forever point in their soulmate's direction, leading the person towards its pair.
Underneath the compass were the words Your _______ inked.
Only after they met their soulmate, only after the compass met its pair, would the blank fill out with their soulmate's name.
After a moment of staring at the soul mark with slight distaste and wonder, Tommy grabbed a fistful of his towel and dabbed it dry.
