“Who? Conlon?” Race’s tone is light, unbothered really, and he's now rubbing the ring on his necklace in between his pointer finger and thumb in an unthinking motion. The lack of emotion in his voice is kind of surprising, which is probably why Davey feels okay to keep asking.
“Yeah. Do you know him?”
The ring turns between Race’s fingers like he’s done it a million times.

“What got you so panicked?” Jack reaches out to poke Dave’s temple. “Lemme in that head of— yours.” In Dave's lean-away from Jack’s jabbing finger, the light is able to catch the line of skin beneath his slightly-unbuttoned shirt. It's just enough to make visible the speckled, rosening, clear-as-day outline of teeth on Dave’s lower neck.
“I give you all my ideas already,” Davey answers, fully oblivious to the realization Jack is battling against. “You can’t be any more in my head,” which would be a real flattering statement, if he’d said it any time but now, Jack thinks. Jack thinks, maybe it’s for the best he’s not in Dave’s head, because he’s not sure he can handle the full truth of the situation, right now. “Look, it doesn’t matter. You’re coming for dinner, right?”
“Nah,” says Jack, not feeling the slightest bit hungry anymore. “I got someplace to be.”
Davey is popular. Jack is jealous.

Things were going terribly when they made it clear how much they both loathed each other. How were they supposed to know that getting along would get them in even more trouble. After getting caught cheating in class the two decide the most probable explanation for why their dads can't find out about this just yet was because they were planning their wedding. Now to get away with their crimes, Amy and Michael have no choice but to make it seem like two people who want absolutely nothing to do with each other are getting happily married.
