He tried his best to stay clean, to stop the drug use, but constantly found himself giving into the temptation crawling beneath his skin. With Gideon gone, he no longer has his safe space and further spirals down into a deep, dark depression, hidden by the simple mask of a false smile. At this rate, he fears nobody can save him and he starts blocking everyone out. Derek Morgan notices his odd behavior and tries his best to help. Could Morgan be the savior Reid was needing?

Something had been off with Reid lately; Morgan was sure of that. What he wasn’t sure of was why? Every time he tried to get the man to talk to him, he was brushed off or flat out ignored, and Morgan was starting to get frustrated. Today he was going to talk to Reid, and not let him leave unless he got a real explanation for his hostility and paranoid behaviour. But now as he sat at his desk, he couldn’t help but worry for the man as he glanced back at the clock – ten minutes late. Reid hadn’t been this late to work in a long time.

The team had been hunting down a killer that had somehow managed to perfectly replicate multiple famous serial killers' and past BAU case kills for a week now. The kills are done so perfectly the team started to suspect that the person was in law enforcement or the FBI. They couldn’t even track purchases as each victim had somehow been convinced to buy the very things that would later be used to kill them, all they have on the unsub is a grainy picture of a man in a black hoodie with a ribcage on the front and red pants.

Summary
Getting diagnosed with cancer was supposed to be the worst thing that happened to him that year.

Maybe seeking out love of a different sort would bring him the happiness he wrote off entirely when he faced imminent death.
Spencer navigates the thin line between heartbreak and hope while coming back to life in spite of it all. His Team, as always, helps him figure it all out.

“Wheels up in Thirty.” Hotch closed the case file and the team started filling out the door. Reid was last to pack up his file and was walking out the door when Derek grabbed him around the waist and pulled him against his chest. Reid squirmed to get out of his grasp, but Morgan was holding on too tightly.
“Where do you think you are going?” Derek asked, tilting his head to stare at the omega. “You know the pact. Murdered unmated omega; someone scents you.” Spencer sighed and relaxed into Derks hold. Ever since the day he was kidnapped by a sexual sadist with an omega fetish the team agreed that it was best disguising his unmated status with the scents of a pack.
“I know, I know. Get on with it. I need to grab some things from my house before we go.”
Spencer is the only Omega in the BAU. They successfully avoided the subject until spencer was kidnapped by a sexual sadist with an unmated omega fetish. They were able to save him before anything happened, but it was a stark awakening for the team that their genius did have different vulnerabilities because of his secondary gender that they needed to address. Thus the Protect Spencer Pact was made and aptly named by Garcia.

In an alternate universe of shifters/shapeshifters, Dr. Spencer Reid hasn't managed to completely trust his teammates in his time at the FBI. He had been getting close to finally letting them in, letting them know him, when it's revealed that they lied to him about Emily's death. He goes postal.
Alternatively: Author is tired of everyone making Reid a subservient little baby. Bro shanked himself in prison and giggled and kicked his feet as he did so. Overpowered/BAMF Reid absolutely dragging the BAU by their blazers.

Spencer Reid was fine.
It didn't matter that his coworkers were starting to notice things about him, things he's been trying to hide in plain sight for years. And yeah, perhaps his boyfriend (who they hadn't even known about) gets a bit angry sometimes, but that's only natural if you have to deal with someone like him for a long period of time. And he's the first person who's stuck around.
So Spencer is fine. Absolutely, unconditionally fine.
Only the stray bruises, staring into space and flinching at every unpredictable movement or sound are there to say otherwise.This ended up being a lot more psychologically disturbing than I imagined, even for my usual content, so please please proceed with caution. If you're not in the right headspace right now, be careful if you still choose to read this. All content warnings will be in the notes of Ch1. Please read them.
Fun fact, I was listening to the full album of Everywhere at the End of Time for the most part while writing this. That might have contributed to the style lol
