Summary
That, he supposed, was the crux of his problem. ‘I’d like to get to know the real you,’ Tenna had said. But Spamton had no clue who the ‘real him’ even was anymore. His whole life was a series of masquerade masks, lined up on his wall to mark every moment where he’d lost himself to the whims of others. He’d been trapped by his purpose as a Darkner, then by his benefactor, then by the all-consuming madness of his quest for NEO, and finally, willingly, by his need to repay the endless debt he owed the heroes. If he really thought about it, he wasn’t sure he could remember a single moment that felt like… him.
OR: The nightmare is well and truly behind him and Spamton finally gets the chance to discover his own identity, no strings or societal expectations attached. He finds himself at a loss for who he is, unable to determine which parts of him were really his and which were products of what he went through. He ends up turning to the people who used to know him, in the hopes that they might be able to piece together the identity he's lost.

tenna’s hands jerk up next to his sides, almost nervous spamton would lose his balance. the addison pauses, looking down at the hands by his side for a moment before turning his attention to tenna, who seemed to lose all interest in their game. slowly, almost as if waiting for spamton to lash out or kick him, he lowers his hands to settle over spamton’s waist. when spamton doesn’t squirm, yell, or bite, tenna chuckles, the sound barely more than a puff of disbelief.
their faces are so close, spamton can feel the humming from the screen against his face, could almost feel tenna’s mechanics whirring under his chassis.

To no one’s surprise, existing as a lowly Addison... followed by the live-fast BIG SHOT [Cungadero] lifestyle... taking an unwanted acid bath and being homeless (if you didn’t count the dumpster) and then BEATEN UP BY CHILDREN... none of this does a body any good. Particularly not when said body is sad and stunted, made of wood and fluff.
It also no longer looks great in a suit jacket, which is perhaps the biggest shame.
Or:
Hanging around Castle Town after his battle with the [Sponge]s, Spamton meets an old flame again, and has to reassess everything he thought he knew about his ruined body.

Summary
When Spamton sang, the notes were written in treble clef. Not bass, not treble 8va, just plain old treble. Up with the sopranos and the altos. The range where women sang. He knew just enough about music to recognize that. He couldn’t identify intervals by ear or sight read, or even read sheet music at all unless you gave him an hour to count through every single note with those stupid little mnemonics you’re supposed to grow out of after a year or so. But he’d be an idiot to not know the difference between treble and bass clef, and even more of an idiot to not know which one he belonged in.
OR: Spamton grapples with the disconnect between a singing voice he likes and an identity he doesn't.
